The right move for Robinho? 08:02am on 02 Sep 2008 In a way, it really doesn't matter how well Robinho does at Man City. It's the bigger picture which is the real issue. If Abramovich buying Chelsea was one turning point for English football, then the Man City takeover is surely another. Whoever it was who predicted that the Premier League would soon be 20 billionaires fighting it out for supremacy knew what he was talking about.

It won't stop until the league becomes more like the NFL or NBA in the US. Ridiculously high multi-million pound contracts, sponsorship up the wazoo, a team of individuals rather than individual teams. I disagree with Platini on many things, but his one man crusade against big buck ownership is starting to look less crazy.
The Palin pregnancy 9:00pm on 01 Sep 2008 Don't know if any of the pre-moderated comments above have touched on this, but more praise should be given to Barack Obama's comments when asked to react to the news of Palin's daughter.

He really inspires a new confidence in me regarding politicians. For the sake of the future, I sincerely hope he wins the presidency.

I can't believe people actually believe Henry would be a less destabilising influence on the dressing room than Berbatov. Henry always struck me as someone who viewed himself as the figurehead of the team, and it is widely reported that the majority of the Arsenal team were relieved to see the back of him and his ego. DB is a man who keeps himself to himself and doesn't socialise much with teammates, prefering to ponder the many philosophical questions that life throws up. This is not my opinion, it is the picture painted by his teammates and the man himself. He is also a supremely gifted footballer with unbelievable vision, and links up midfield and attack better than any other. Remind you of anyone?

Fergie's been looking for another Cantona for years. He may finally have found him.

Tevez - Late equalisers against Tottenham, Lyon and crucially Blackburn. Winners against Roma, Birmingham and Chelsea. Opening goals against Wigan and Sporting Lisbon. Scorer of one of the penalties that lifted the Champions League trophy. And that's not even touching his assists and teamplay. Worth way more than £30 million in my book. Without his workrate and goals, United would not have won the elite double. Fact.

Redknapp the old BBC favourite? His 24/7 availability for media comment? This the same Redknapp that pledged never to speak to the BBC again after they ran that corruption programme a few years back? Umm...
Crouch deal proves Redknapp's quality 3:19pm on 07 Jul 2008 Interesting article. I agree he doesn't seem to get the credit for the incredible job he has done at Portsmouth. A great man-manager to the casual observer (like me), and more hits in the transfer market than The Beatles (who admittedly have no transfer market experience).

However, his legacy will now forever be tainted. Not for the early-morning raids and corruption allegations, but for his statement whilst working as a pundit for one of the non-Beeb channels during Euro2008. I'm paraphrasing here, but it went something like: 'If England were in this tournament they would be right up there amongst the favourites.' Wow. Bear in mind this was after seeing the likes of Holland, Germany, Portugal and Spain run rings around opponents with incredible ease. And bear in mind that this imaginary England team at Euro2008 would still have had Steve McLaren at the helm. Just wow. Sort your head out Harry!
