Mobile TV: Ready for take-off? 10:45am on 13 Nov 2009 Re Sky: I already pay more than £55 a month to Sky, I really don't see why I should pay another £6 for the iPhone app. This should be free to their premium customers, after all I get Sky Player for 'free'.

Re TVCatchup: a great product. I use it quite a bit.
Palm Pre and O2 - a marriage of convenience 11:33am on 15 Oct 2009 I notice the main article (and a bunch of other articles in other publications) reference TNS survey data and extrapolate this to say 'Palm Pre is going to be an iPhone killer'. Even a cursory glance at the news from the US has shown this not to be the case: Palm is not divulging sales figures and giving mixed messages to the analysts. It does not look like the Pre is much of a success, and customers will also be put off by the stupid cat and mouse game they are playing with iTunes/Apple.
Who wins from an Orange iPhone? 6:06pm on 29 Sep 2009 I just read that Strand report - half of it is rubbish. They use selective or partial data sets to 'prove' a point or as they put it 'dispel common myths'.

I wonder who commissioned that report and what their agenda is?
What makes a tech story? 4:50pm on 01 Sep 2009 I tend to view the BBC's tech coverage as consumer tech with the odd bit of business tech thrown in. That's fine, there are other places to get enterprise and decent business tech stories.

In the interest of balance, I'd be happy to see how many of the Conservative heirarchy have worked at the BBC.

Can O2 cope with smartphone traffic? 3:38pm on 07 Jul 2009 Good blog post Rory. I work in the City and live in SE5. I never get more than 800kbps down on my iPhone; 4-500 is more common but there's little consistency.

I frequently get voicemails when the phone hasn't rung; dropped calls, just the Edge network rather than 3G etc - and it's starting to get annoying.
Apple - angering the fans? 12:55pm on 09 Jun 2009 @ Jaffa - the compass (in conjuction with GPS) will enable all sorts of clever apps to be written. Look up Wikitude on the Android platform for an example.
Apple - angering the fans? 11:30am on 09 Jun 2009 @Mark and Dave - I'm pretty sure we all understand that an 18 month contract is an 18 month contract. However at the launch of the 3G model O2 offered an upgrade for v1 customers and have set expectations accordingly.
Apple - angering the fans? 11:22am on 09 Jun 2009 It would cost me about £800 to upgrade to the 3GS from my 3G; or I'd wait 6 months until I was out of contract - but by then another iPhone would be 6 months away.

O2 need to align their upgrade cycle with the iPhone upgrade cycle - surely not too much to ask?

I switched to O2 after 15 years at Vodafone; O2 have just ensured that when exclusivity ends they will lose a lot of customers.
