Agassi confession lengthens shadow of doubt 11:22pm on 29 Oct 2009 Nadal and Federer may be shocked and disappointed at this revelation - but what is the point of an autobiography if it isn't warts 'n all? I'd like to think that Andre was haunted down the years by the lie he told and owning up to what he did is a way of trying to expunge that guilt. With the violent + abusive father he endured as a child, its a wonder he managed to turn himself around the way he did.
As long as he never took performance enhancing drugs, I don't have much of a problem. Yes he lied .. and the ATP accepted it so I think the problem lies with them.
All I hope is that this revelation doesn't affect in any way the good work he's doing for the kids born on the "wrong side of the tracks" in Las Vegas who otherwise might end up using crystal meth as a way of life.
There are too many people who like to play judge, jury + executioner in this world.
Murray nears the summit 9:21pm on 18 Aug 2009 Unless my maths is really up the creek, Nadal is much nearer to Murray in the world rankings than Murray is to Federer. Tennis is not about could have, should have, would have. Pretty sure Murray wouldn't want the same reputation as Dinara Safina ... a World No 1 without a slam to his name. He should acknowledge the fact that Nadal is only just returning to action after having been sidelined by injury. Though the same could be said with regard to Federer winning the FO + particularly Wimbledon, at least he achieved the No 1 spot by actually winning 2 slams.
The Federer circus rolls into town - but not the village 10:52am on 08 Aug 2008 I wish some people would get into the real world ... one of Roger's sponsors is Rolex ... its part of his contract that he has to wear one when he accepts any trophy and he can be seen wearing it during exhibition matches too. When some of you get unindated with requests for photos/autographs/media/TV interviews, requests for who knows what, maybe you'd be better qualified to make the kind of comments some of you do.

And ... er no, Tom, doubt he'll carry the flag one-handed ... he's already said his worst fear is stumbling with it!!
The Federer circus rolls into town - but not the village 4:29pm on 07 Aug 2008 I think the headline to this article shot itself in the foot ... The Federer Circus .... " and who can anyone blame Roger for wanting to get away from the circus that surrounds him. Poor Roger … seems no matter what he says/does, he can’t please the media these days.

I read he was trying (unsuccessfully) to eat his lunch in the Olympic village the other day but was continually bothered by other athletes wanting his autograph or photo taken with him. I thiink some under-estimate just what a worldwide celebrity he now is – someone who has transcended the sport he plays and the country he comes from.

Of course there may be other personal reasons for not wishing to stay in the village ... something to do with his g/f not being able to stay with him in the village?? You'd hardly expect him to admit that in public!!

If he wins it would make up for all the other disappointments he’s had this year. Though I dread to think how many tears will be shed on that podium!!
