LTA must carry the can for failure 12:52pm on 23 Sep 2009 when will those guys sitting on the LTA start to realise to stop enjoying their champagne and prawn sarnies if they are really serious about the future of British tennis

I am afraid Roger Draper is correct its going to take 5-7 years to sort out the state of British tennis

The sport is still only for the privileged in this country unless they make it more accessible to kids in school to start playing at an early age then the improvements will not come sooner.

Most tennis clubs are not interested in investing in future tennis stars they are only concerned about making profits now and not willing to wait for 5-7 years of investment to return

The last 3 best British male players all did their own training and programme elsewhere to become top 10 players Henman, Rusedski and Murray

The LTA need to look at whats wrong with the mens game if Murray is No 3 in the world and the next best player is ranked around 200 !!

Murray should not bother playing Davis Cup for now because the others have to accept responsibility and not expect Murray to carry them through matches
How England can win the Ashes 3:36pm on 10 Aug 2009 I think the point that Hayden and Tuffers alluded to is you can;t drop 4 or 5 players all of a sudden because of one match

Bell only been back in the side
Onions and Anderson did they not tore the Aussies to shreds at Edgbaston
Bopara - the only one who probably will be dropped because his run has been consistently poor

Harmison - his last chance saloon has gone as he wasted it after getting KAtich out bowling tripe

We are forgetting who wants to be thrown into the Lion's den knowing the last test has high stakes in claiming the Ashes

The match ending early means some players might now get some match practice which would not have happened had the Headingley match gone the full 5 days
Will Williamson take Chambers' crown? 3:05pm on 13 Jul 2009 the line is drawn Dwaine Chambers has had his punishment and served it and also means his dreams winning the Olympics are gone from him for good

The British Athletics Association need to make their minds up if they want the best athletes available to get medals at major championship or let rookies and juniors go and gain experience for latter years

This issue about Dwain Chambers running in the relay. Would people change their stance say if it was the difference between gold or silver then
Ashes player ratings - First Test 10:28pm on 12 Jul 2009 Despite his lack of success bowling I think Swan's rating is unfair onloy a 4 given he actually batted with aggression and bravery in his innings and gave the score a bit more respectable for England doing what KP failed to do to the Australian bowlers in both innings

People seem to forget he came out with average of 79 ! from the match with the bat.

KP's rating has divided opinion but where as in the past he has gotten away with it due to the bowlers taking the wickets or other batsmen hiding his failures on flat wickets . This time it almost cost England the match.. you are not gonna get many favours from the Australians this series... I hope we don't see any more of that first innings shot otherwise there will be calls for him to be dropped for failing to bat responsibly in the situation

Collingwood despite his critics has proven again what a fighter he is .. he is not as gifted as Pietersen but he slugged it out which would have impressed the aussies

I am also a bit concerned about the top order failing badly and especially Bopara deciding to flash at everything outside the stumps

Panesar for his bravery will be dropped for Onions or Harmison for the 2nd test as someone needs to back Flintoff in the attack.
F1 editor, the best job in the world 1:08pm on 09 Mar 2009 I am sure the BBC will make sure F1 is un interrupted and will learn a few tricks from ITV having got Ted Kravitz and Martin Brundle on board
KP makes headlines again 12:38pm on 05 Feb 2009 the reason wby the mods are taken long is probably with the fact the BBC were blamed by the ECB for making them the villians in makinng Pietersen resign as captain. Reports were that the BBC 's Mihir Bose painted that the ECB were asking for trouble picking the strong headed Pietersen as Captain. SO now they have to show a bit of criticism against Pietersen..

Its a bit harsh given he got England out of jail and if the opposition was Australia we'll all be saying thank goodness he is in our team
KP makes headlines again 10:05am on 05 Feb 2009 I can't believe Bell was selected again !!!! What has Owais Shah got to do to get his deserved chance

Collingwood is not one of the most naturally gifted players like Pietersen or Bell but one of the most dogged in the side. The last few times people said he he should be dropped he answered with two centuries against SA and India

As for KP forget he missed out on a century but he got England out of trouble again !!! Please let him just focus on his cricket now
Lack of quality spinner costs Australia 1:17pm on 15 Oct 2008 If there is any place where Spinners are key to winning matches its India and since Warne and MacGill retired there has been no one able to cement that spot in the team

They are struggling to fill a void left by those two

As the pitches in India are not really suited to the pace of Lee

Their batting is not as strong as it use to be with Langer, Gilchrist retired and Symonds dropped for discilplinary reasons so there is a chance for India to get at them once they remove Ponting and Hussey
India's Dad's Army must prove the doubters wrong 2:33pm on 07 Oct 2008 It was even suggested in one of Ian Botham's books he thought Gooch's treatment of Gower was disgraceful just after he was forced to pick him for the home series against Pakistan in 1992 due to public pressure and ended up beating Boycott's Test Career Run record.

It had more to do with the fact that Gooch under his captaincy operated the team like a regime and demanded everyone put maximum effort into preparation for a match esp fitness.

He could not take Gower's carefree and relaxed approach and sought to make an example of him

Gower was dropped even though he still had a few good years left in test cricket

Gower took it like a man and did not make a big thing out of it

A better example to use maybe Robin Smith
a brilliant batsman against fast bowling especially everything the West Indies threw at him ... until Australia came up with a plan to tie him down with spin and that sapped his confidence

He would regain it with some heroics against South Africa on tour and the Windies in 1994 but then Ray illingworth decided he was too old and ended his test career at only 32 !!
