I guess you didn't see the game then! Don't let facts get in the way of your bias - it was a simple clash of heads....with Boyd jumping into a Celtic player who had his back to him. It looks like its not just "them" suffering from paranoia.

You seem to be jumping to conclusions here.

I did defend the Tartan Army by basically saying it was better to act like drunken buffoons then drunken hooligans - you seem to assume that my latter description of drunken hooligans is a description of Rangers fans. How oddd!

The difference between the behaviour expected of the Football Fans and the behaviour expected of Professional Athletes should not need too much explanation.

Ferguson WAS one of our best players and McGregor is a decent player. The thing is Scotland (and Rangers) have replacements available - in the case of Scotland the replacements are superior players.

As for sending them home instead of allowing them to sit on the bench - as Bluto almost says in the film "Animal House" - the SFA messed up, they trusted them.

George Burley trusted the players to have a quiet drink to unwind after the journey from Holland, he then trusted them to act like adults on the bench. With hindsight this trust was misplaced, but the bulk of the blame for this mess lies with the players, not George Burley - Barry Ferguson was Scotlands Captain FFS.

I will accept your point about the Scottish Footballing media - a bunch of parasitic hypocrites.

The Tartan Army offensive??? They might be a caricature, but they are hardly offensive. It's better to be seen swaying drunkenly in a kilt and red nylon wig while singing a song from "The Sound of Music" than drunkenly fighting, hurling missiles or chasing Policeman.

The players are victims of their own arrogance - they totally misread the situation and over-estimated their own importance to both their Club and Country.

The original excessive drinking/curfew breach is seen as a relatively trivial matter (in British footballing terms!!) - George Burley said before the Iceland game that, as far as he was concerned, the matter was closed.

The stupid childish gestures made at unspecified targets (the media? the Tartan Army?) when they were sitting metaphorically on the naughty step showed total disrespect that subsequent grovelling apologies could not make right.

Scotland don't need Ferguson - we have several better midfield players.
Rangers don't want Ferguson - he's overpaid and a shadow of his former self.

Scotland don't need McGregor - Craig Gordon is vastly superior to him.
Rangers don't want McGregor - he is overpaid and is readily sellable.

The media have speculated that a lesser punishment would have been given to eg. Scott Brown - they are probably correct.

It sounds like he thinks Boyd should be played to me.

As for re-writing history, Burley said that Boyd was on the bench because he wasn't good enough to start for scotland. When Burley was challenged on this at a press conference, he pointed out that Walter Smith left him on the bench against better teams too ie he said it after Boyd walked out on Scotland.

Craig Gordon is international quality, Kris boyd isn't. The two situations aren't comparable.

Scotland needs Fergusons experience. He might be on the wane, but he is the one player we have who can find space in a congested midfield - especially if Scott Brown is doing the running and breaking up play for him.

Boyd is an old fashioned poacher - pure and simple. Site him in the middle of the box and supply him and he will score (he's expert from the penalty spot too). In the modern game, especially against quality opposition, Boyd can't hack it. Too slow and lazy................

Yet another piece of flawed jouranalism from you. You correctly state that Holland have more quality than Scotland, but then you seem to champion the selection of Kris Boyd and Barry Ferguson. Two players hardly playing at their peak (and in Boyds case that peak is not very high). I am sure Ferguson will play because I think that Scott Brown brings out the best in Ferguson (and vice versa) - but Kris Boyd in a Scotland shirt - give me a break......

Burley refused to pick Kris Boyd on the basis Boyd was not good enough to be a starter at the international level.

Its nothing to do with moving goalposts Chic; its just you re-writing history.
