The Chicago Tribune article ascribes the forecast to heat - about CO2, it says this:

>In its report, Environment America, an advocacy group with branches in Illinois and around the nation, contends that damaging effects from warming would far outweigh a carbon-fueled yield boost.

Perhaps you should read your links before posting them...

You do know that CO2 encourages plant growth? I used to work in a greenhouse at up to 1200ppm CO2 where the tomatoes grew wonderfully...

Nor is Clive James, but he presented a clearer argument for scepticism than most. Nor is George Monbiot, come to that, but at least he was quick to acknowledge the likely repercussions of the CRU leaks and their effect on the AGW 'cause'.

It looks like there's a chance that Uncle Gordon's (and possibly Richard Black's) return from Denmark may be hampered by snow, which isn't quite what you want after a long debate on global warming...

Sample of the criticism, about the use of the word 'most':

"most" is an approximate term, but generally implies more than "more than half" (which was the phrase used by the IPCC).

Really? I think there may be a few politicians in marginal seats who beg to differ where votes are concerned.

If that's the best he can do, I don't think Lord Monckton has too much to worry about.

Chris Rapley has been saying much the same thing after his museum's 'Prove It' campaign backfired and polled far more votes for the sceptics than the faithful. What he and the Milibands fail to grasp is that the general public knows when it is being taken for a ride.

Their problem is that they (and the CRU) are aboard a gravy train that is running out of track...
COP15 Copenhagen climate summit: Day 1 5:45pm on 07 Dec 2009 CO2 is buffered by the oceans (it would a lot higher if it wasn't) and when they warm, they release more of it, which is why you keep champagne in the fridge. You'd think all those scientists could separate cause and effect...

(They can, of course, but nowadays they have to follow the money, which is why Phil Jones got £13m in grants, science got corrupted, and the politicians are trying to restrict an innocent trace gas that keeps us all alive!)
Apocryphal, some might even say hysterical 1:09pm on 28 Oct 2009 Lord Stern seems to have a childishly simple view of the effects of CO2, insisting that all extra in the atmosphere was our doing, and ignoring the interchange with the oceans, where most of it lives. Warm the oceans, and they release more of it (which is why you keep champagne in the fridge) so the cause and effect may well be the other way round.

The government's latest attempt to bring us all to heel with an advertisement designed to upset children (turn the lights off or the dog gets it) only shows that they've lost the argument. If it really was that simple, we wouldn't need persuading...

Interesting to see that Richard Black responds to comments in his own blogs. At least it shows he reads them! Tonyb, in 'Harmless Sky', reports that he has attended government committee meetings where he has queried the automatic acceptance of AGW and been told, off the record, that not everyone agrees, but that it would be suicidal to say so. It would appear that a similar climate of fear exists at the BBC.

Still, as the Bishop has already said, you make a better case for scepticism than any of us could have done. Bravo!
