What have been your Beijing highlights? 1:59pm on 22 Aug 2008 British Cycling was the highlight of the entire games for me. For a start, if they were a Nation, they would still be In the top 10 medal table yet they only had 10 events to do it in! Simply the word domination is all you can describe their performances.

Agreed, Bolt was clearly the headline winning performance, but British Cycling just rewrote the entire book on winning at sport and how to do it on a completely new level. Other Olympic sports in this country must adopt their methods to prepare for 2012 or face looking like some of the squads we sent to Beijing who looked totally out of their depth.

If people think that 'bravery' surmounts to training less because you are injured, going into a race knowing you can't win and then blubbing to billions of viewers every 4 years when you prove it to be exactly so, you are all completely bonkers! Paula is a fantastic athlete, but imagine what level a new talent could have reached over the last 8 years in place of Paula with dedicated resources and experts like the Cycling squad?
Let the great G.O.A.T debate commence! 3:47pm on 17 Aug 2008 I'm afraid Eddy Merckx pips every other athlete in my eyes if you are simply trying to argue how much they dominated their sport as a Top Trumps style argument.

Merckx's palomares leave Lance Armstrong, Micheal Phelps, Tiger Woods, Maradonna, Carl Lewis combined still trailing behind.
Hoy the pick of GB's golden bunch 11:39am on 17 Aug 2008 Yes, I am saying all sports that are games are not sport in the true Olympic sense of the word.

I honestly don't see for example the difference between tiddlywinks and golf. Both have the same objective of playing within a set of rules in order to get a round object into a hole in the least number of hops. Likewise, Subutteo has very similar objectives to playing a game of Football and use the same rules.

The only difference I see, are the games called 'sport' happen to be played on a bigger stage and invlove more aerobic activity. Certainly the skill required is very similar.

Paula deserves praise and plaudits 10:50am on 17 Aug 2008 No wonder UK Athletics is such a mess, when even one of its past stars is trying to award praise for complete and utter failure. Taking part should not even be an option unless you can win.
Hoy the pick of GB's golden bunch 10:42am on 17 Aug 2008 Golf isn't Olympic though #37. i.e. it needs to actually be played in more than a handful of countries to be considered by the IOC. I would argue too that any so called 'sport' you can put the words 'game of' infront of, is not sport, but a game with a bit of low threshold aerobic activity.
