England give us reasons to believe 3:23pm on 01 Nov 2009 I think Sinfield, Maguire, and Tom Briscoe had shocking games. Briscoes positioning was appalling, Maguire and Sinfield made mistake after mistake. Sam Tomkins had a decent game, but he is too greedy at times and needs to start spreading the ball quicker. There was 2 or 3 occasions when a fast pass outwide could have lead to an overlap, but he chose to keep the ball an cut back in. I would rather see Leon Pryce as standoff as he's got much better game awareness, and Maguire as scrum half. Tom Briscoe needs to be dropped, when Eastmond came on the defense shored up and we looked a much stronger unit.

I think Tony Smith deserves both criticism and praise in the same breath. Its good that he's picking up and coming players and blooding them, but he's picking too many at once, and its weakening the team. I'm not sure on these particular players injury situations (if indeed they are injured), but we missed the likes of Gleeson, Yeaman, Pryce, Gilmour and Wilkin. If Wilkin is fit, I'd drop Sinfield to the bench.

Also Sam Burgess was immense, he rattled the Aussies and they couldnt handle him, same goes for Crabtree!!
Nutt gets the sack 00:52am on 31 Oct 2009 Speaking from personal experience, and I've experimented with various drugs, cannabis, ecstacy, lsd, cocaine etc... the one that did me the most harm was Cannabis. I've not taken any long term, but just recreational once in a while whenI was younger. Cannabis made me completely paranoid and dislocated from reality, I was convinced I was being followed by people and could easily have made me do something stupid. Anyone who argues against the reclassification should smoke some cannabis/skunk, and then make their comments. I very much doubt Mr Nutt or Mr Johnson have, and no matter how educated they may be, their is NO substitute for experience. If it were down to me, I would make them ALL Class A, I would ban tobacco too, which does more harm than most Class A drugs combined!!
A new day, a new wonder 00:32am on 21 Aug 2009 I think he should turn his sights towards the 400m. He's said he could do it but would need to improve his endurance. He's already got the 100m and 200m world records, which are safe and I very much doubt will ever be broken, so why not go for the 400m? I think he could smash the record quite comfortably!!
Strife in swimming's fast lanes 12:18pm on 01 Jun 2009 I agree, it's all about having a level playing field. Swimming should be about individual ability, not the differing ability of various brands of swimsuit. So either nobody is allowed a swimsuit, or everyone wears the same approved brand during competitions. So, Fina could accept bids from the various swimwear companies to provide the suit for the next Olympics, and the best one gets the deal, and all swimmers wear the same. Fina then benefits as the bes swimmer will still win, and it will get lots more publicity for the sport when records get broken!
Battle rages over F1 future 11:33am on 12 May 2009 Ferrari are spitting their dummy out. Because they can no longer throw endless amounts of money at their team in order to buy the championship, they are throwing their toys out of the pram. They dont like the idea of a level playing field, where all teams have to make the most of a set amount of funds, in the most innovative and skillful way possible. Sport is about improving yourself and being skillful, hard work and dedication, not about buying a title off the shelf.

On top of the budget caps bring back no refuelling and manual gearboxes, giving more emphasis on driver skill and judgement, then we'll see who the best drivers are!
How the World Cup's final flourish silenced its critics 6:08pm on 24 Nov 2008 I think the format of the tournament should have been different. the big 3 should have been kept apart, which would have ensured more chance of an upset or 2 to generate interest. It would have made the semi-finals less predictable.

I also believe the tournament was vastly biased in the Aussies favour. They had an Australian referree for every one of their games I believe. England didnt get an English ref, and New Zealand didnt get a Kiwi ref. No matter how much England improve, they will always be hampered by this, and the way the lying on rules are interpreted. The Aussies have too much influence over this, and the rules should be standardised at international and club level. Play the ball rules should be the same as Super League, which is a more entertaining, faster product than the NRL. The moment th ball carriers elbow has it the floor AND forward momentum stopped, the defending players should leave the tackle. Until this is done, then I'm afraid the international game will not prosper, as all teams need to be on a level playing field as far as rules are concerned!
