Is all publicity good publicity? 12:02pm on 22 Oct 2009 It's not so much that the BBC have put him on Question time it sht way the Corportation seem to be revelling in the controversy that really gauls me, take a look at the question time microsite and every headline contains the letters BNP - wait a minute, aren't there other pannelists as well, little known figures such as Jack Straw?

They have invested so much political capital in this sceme in the face of widespread criticism and public dissaproval.

Government has embraced globalisation without really questioning what role will be left for nation states, now they are finding out...Very little.

When taxpayers buy business debt 10:44am on 27 Jan 2009 Surely the biggest matter of political intervention is that the Bank Of England is only able to dispurse taxpayers money by a very circuitous route (With no guarantee of success) rather than lend directly to the companies that need loans and are being stonewalled by theor banks)
Lend, lend, lend 6:12pm on 18 Jan 2009 Rather than keep pouring money into the banks in the vain hope that they will do the right thing for the wider economy and not for their shareholders the government should use Northern Rock as a vehicle for a state lender.

By providing cash directly to good businesses the Government could get the economy going while sidestepping the risks involved with underwriting an unknown amount of toxic debt on the balance sheets of the big banks

Is this a viable option that is just to Socialist for Gordon Brown or is my idea flawed?
