For someone accusing others of dumbing down - and being unwilling to listen - that's quite something. And you are one person. I've re-read the comments, again, and see no sign of anyone else complaining about the item itself. I'm glad however, that despite turning the radio off you stayed with the blog.
PM Glass Box. 07:47am on 21 Nov 2009 3: I have no idea whether Radio 4 listeners lapped it up but if negative comments are any guide...the only complaint about our coverage...here or in our email inbox is from one person at 4 (who wrote the comment before the item was finished). The other comments were from people who thought other listeners wouldn't like it. We would normally expect more complaints than that if people didn't like something...but in the end there was one, but who am I to claim to be in touch with the audience?! Our guess, (and I think the reaction from the 2 million plus people who will have been listening at that moment), supports this, is that Big Sister was right at 5. Our listeners have many diverse interests.

We wanted to take time to give listeners a potted biog of Oprah, and then get some analysis from a good guest. And, although not everyone could wait for the full item to air, I thought Tina Brown gave great analysis!
