You Are The Ref #6 10:36am on 14 Jun 2008 i posted this question although in my original question i asked what would happen if, at 5-4 with the kicker needing to score he stutters his run up, scores and then argues his way into a second booking when the goal is ruled to be re-taken. Im not sure the question published is as good, as with the score at 10-10 the 'miss' does not have the same ramifications as it does not put italy out. Im not sure about all this headbutting and players from other teams becoming involved, it seems a bit over the top. Certainly the italian and french players should be sent off for violent conduct. I really dont know what would happen to the kick, thats why i posted the question! My dad who is a ref says it goes to the next penalty taker, therefore italy's 1st taker - which does seem a bit unfair.
You Are The Ref answer and suggestions 9:21pm on 08 Jun 2008 I have a scenario that we were discussing during the Champions League final last month. A knock out game between France and Spain is 0-0 at full time and the teams cannot be separated and the game goes to penalties. With the score at 5-4 to Spain, Thierry Henry steps up to keep france in the game. Henry scores, but stops during his run up and the referee deems it to be retaken, Henry, already on a booking argues his way to a red card, what happens in this scenario? does this count as a miss and eliminate France from the competition?
