Progress of sorts but England remain in flux 09:31am on 23 Nov 2009 England were mediocre because they ARE mediocre.

Decent defence, decent physicality but no flair whatsoever. Whenever they come up against a bigger team they will struggle to get anywhere.

This isn't a huge problem in itself, teams can play witha lack of flair if they pick the right players and strategy, the problem is that England seem to be stuck in the middle somewhere. They are playing a very negative direct game as individuals but are still tying to pick players without the attributes to play that kind of game. They need to decide which route to go down, either the crash bang route in which case they need to pick the biggest, fittest, strongest side possible, cut out the fancy moves, miss passes, chips and play liek a RL side or they need to get a better attacking tactician to work with the more skillful players on worked moves and broken play.

Given the players and coaches they have then crash bang would look a better bet right now, which means a backline of powerful runners in the middle and finishers on the wings. Armitage needs to come back purely because he's the only quality full back, Cueto and Monye on the wings are OK though Cueto should be replaced if anyone with pace steps up. Flutey at 12 is a cert and I would consider looking at Banahan for the 13 slot. I know he's not a centre but his size and power made him an excellent 4th back row type player, on the wing his size is wasted and his poor handling exposed.

I don't think he's inernational class either but to be fair to the selectors they had to try. England desperately needs a fast bowling option and he was the best available at the time so ti was worth giving him a run out.
Facebook v Ceop 2:33pm on 18 Nov 2009 Facebook already has its own reporting system and they are in a much better position to judge as they have access to everything posted via their service, something that no third party should ever be allowed access to.

This CEOP organisation has no right to assume they are the best guardians and even less right to accuse thos who choose other methods of negligence. They have neither the resources of facebook to investigate these reports on a worldwide basis (and it would have to be worldwide for consistency's sake) nor the authority to force any other company to act on it's findings.

The other thing noone has mentioned yet is that the button could be used to bully in itself, a large number of abuse claims every year throughout the world are withdrawn or proven to be false once investigate (I'm not trying to say that MOST are false in any way, but the percentage is large enough to indicate an issue). I would sooner trust facebook who have access to all the information to come to the correct finding and to assume innocence until proven guilty than CEOP, if only because as a business facebook has a need to come to the right conclusions about things in order to maximise it's income and reduce bad PR whereas CEOP do not.

Ansolute rubbish. The apology has changed no laws and will change no future actions, it has thus closed no doors that hadn't already been shut years ago by the original investigations.
Shamed into an apology 1:03pm on 17 Nov 2009 These unfortunate people were stripped of their British citizenship without their consent, by their ultimate guardian, the British Government...simply because the British Government in terms of its rights as their custodian could act in this fashion without any opposition at that time...because these people were then...only children.Is this not child abuse in its worst form?

You think that stripping someone of it's citizenship before they are old enough to even appreciate what it means is a worse child abuse than beating them, raping them, forcing them to sleep in damp cellars, prostituting themand so on?

Get a grip of reality and get some perspective.

The child abusers here are the australians/brits who actually carried out the abuses and those who knew they wer going on but looked the other way. NOT the government.
What Mercedes buy-out of Brawn could mean 12:50pm on 17 Nov 2009 I know it doesn't work like that, but it does seem incredibly callous that Brawn is so willing to sell up simply to line his already very well lined pockets.

He sold up because the team will not survive otherwise.

Brawn, as well off a he is, does not have the money to subsidise an F1 team. Sponsorship came last season out of good will initially and success later, they would have had a lot less good will this coming year and any drop in performance would erradicate the second as well.

I dont believe it was ever his intention to keep the team long term, anyoen who does is frankly not well in teh head.

The only apology worth anythign would come from those responsible, that won't happen so why can't the idiots whop keep calling for it just shut up and let the governemnts deal with more present day issues.
What Mercedes buy-out of Brawn could mean 08:47am on 17 Nov 2009 I still don't understand why Alonso is so highly rated in an F1 car - he was admittedly fantastic when he went up against Schumacher, but the benchmark of a great driver is hoe they perform without a decent car. Alonso has done absolutely nothing this year, and last year only really won one race because renault cheated in the other. At McLaren in 2007, he was a petulent child who couldnt take not being the best in his team, and should have done better with what was undoubtably the fastest car.

No pleasing some people is there? Alonso managed that victory in 2008 and a decent set of results in 2009 with an absolute travesty of a car and while working for one of the most inconsistent outfits in F1. Yes he was petulent in his McLaren year and in the way he left but to question his driving ability shows a significant lack of knowledge on your part. He has consistently pulled the Renault to results it should have never been getting in his two years back there.
What Mercedes buy-out of Brawn could mean 08:45am on 17 Nov 2009 "you would not find many people in F1 who fancied his [Button's] chances of beating Hamilton in the same car." Button won the title because his car was vastly superior for the first 7 races, taking the last ten races he'd have finished sixth in the second best car. If Rosberg is going to Mercedes he needs to move... Hamilton is at McLaren... to avoid embarrassment from his team mate he shold follow Rubens to wherever he's going... no wait, Barrichello outscored him over those ten races too. Let's just hope that wherever he goes, he has that arrogance surgically removed; heads shouldn't well like that.

Apart from the first line thats a load of twaddle mate.

You cant take the last 10 races in isolation for so many reasons, Button did not need to drive balls to the wall in those races to win the championship so he didnt, when he needed to take risks and be fast he did so, driving at 100% all the time leads to errors, just look at Hamilton for an example of that, not that Lewis can be faultd for it, in his situation it was the right thing, it's all about context.

The Brawn team stopped developing the car, RBR and McLaren (which were both better than the Brawn so where you got second best car from is anyones guess) did not, the development they did do skewed the car more in Rubens favour than Buttons, again the right decision at the time for the constructors title.

As for arrogance, sorry I jsut don't see it. Button has been nothing but gracious whenever he comments on anything about the season, if your talking about holding out for better pay, of course he is and rightly so. He is a world champion now, his team are no smaller than they were when Honda were backing them now they have Merc on board and he is asking for less than he earned with the same outfit two years ago.
