Till debt do us part? 6:03pm on 22 Oct 2009 it is not just indivisuals britain is in 800 billion of debt at the last count and almost a trillion if you count bank bailouts. I wander if we are thinking can't pay won't pay.

You can't punish an alcoholic for drinking alcohol or a drug addict for taking drugs. However the NHS has limited resources and it is up to them to use them in the most efficacious manner.

If financial institutions are too big to fail then they should be split up in a way that they can fail.

The Government should realise that banking is now almost a utility as it is almost impossible to live a normal life without access to banking. If this type of banking was hived off from the casino risk taking then the FSA could regulate them far more strongly.

Is cutting benefit fair? 3:36pm on 06 Oct 2009 As I understand it they are not cutting benefits. All they are doing is classifying people that could work into that category. This seems completely fair to me as long as the system is run fairly. For years people have been pushed onto disability in an attempt to lower the headline unemployment figures. The sooner we move to a economically inactive as an indicator the better.

It is only unfair if it is pushing the genuinely needy onto a lower weekly wage as a cost cutting exercise.
