Nick Griffin on Question Time 4:45pm on 23 Oct 2009 What a shambles this edition of QT was. I was hoping for a reasoned political discussion on the many issues facing the country today and how ALL the parties represented would tackle them. Instead alI I got was a concerted attack on one panel member by 3 of the other members and the chairman.

Throw in a hostile audience and it is hardly surprising the programme degenerated into nothing more than a series of personal attacks on Nick Griffin. Where was the exposure of flaws in the BNP policies towards a whole raft of things. Instead it was you said this, you said that, youre a liar, youre a nazi etc etc.

Half of the time it was impossible to hear what he was saying as the 3 democratic politicians on the panel proceeded to interrupt and shout him down while the chairman sat like a tin of milk and let them do it. That is when he wasn't putting the boot in himself.

The only time Jack Straw shut up was when Griffin pointed out that while his father spent the war in the RAF fighting the Nazis Mr Straw senior spent it in jail after refusing to do so. What was wrong with him as a concientious objector driving an ambulance or being a stretcher bearer?

Nick Griffin leads a lawful political party however unpleasant its policies may be and to deny him the right to speak makes those doing so no better than the fascists they purport to oppose. Over one million ordinary hard working British people voted for the BNP and to tar them all as racist bigots is offensive in the extreme.

Find out why these people feel so disconnected from main stream politics rather than dismiss them as racist. You ignore them at your peril for after all Hitler came to power democratically through the ballot box.

So please BBC no more biased, one sided editions of QT otherwise I will be reaching for the off button.
Adebayor madness mars Man City win 10:23am on 13 Sep 2009 What a silly boy Adeybeyor is. West Ham & Millwall fans were pilloried for crowd trouble recently then along comes an incident like this which could easily have led to a major disturbance.
The raking of Van Persie also looked deliberate but only Adebeyor himself knows what his true intentions were. It looks worse every time you see it.
As for the claim that the goal celebration was done in the heat of the moment Don't make me laugh. He ran 90 yards to do it at the Arsenal end. Had he scored at that end then perhaps this might, just might ring true but not after sprinting the length of the pitch.
He should be hammered by the FA.
England v Australia Fourth Test player ratings 3:20pm on 09 Aug 2009 What a shambles. I was bitterly disappointed to lose a game in which I had hoped that English bowlers exploiting English conditions would see us to victory.I think we are kidding ourselves about winning the ashes.
Short of Peterson & Flintoff and we fall apart. England are a bad team and a long way short of what is only a competent aussie side who have nevertheless coped well with the retirement of Hayden, Langer, Gilchrist, Warne & McGrath.
Strauss is a fine bat but a rather unimaginative captain. Bopara is not a test class batsman and there are question marks against Bell yet again!.
Including Harmison was a bad decision when the swing bowling of Sidebottom was available and he spent his early years at Headingly. Harmy can be devastating on his day but how often is he on his day. Put him out of his misery now.
That said we should avoid wholesale changes but prepare for defeat lads.
Where has the summer gone? 6:46pm on 15 Jul 2009 5 or 6 weeks ago when the Met office predicted a scorching hot summer I remember thinking "yer right" I will believe it when I see it. Now what happens, rain, wind and very unsettled.
This lot couldn't tip coal never mind the weather.
Gordon Brown in the firing line 1:57pm on 15 Jul 2009 As more of our soldiers return home in coffins pursuing the crazy adventure that is Afghanistan I am frustrated to hear Brown continually bleat on that it is to protect us all from terrorism. The last outrage was home grown in Leeds for goodness sake!!

This is precisely what Hitler did in the 1930's and Dubya Bush did some years later. Invent an enemy within to deflect attention away from the regimes own shortcomings.
On a seperate issue, all credit to the good people of Wootton Bassett for their reaction to the returning soldiers. It further shames our craven government in that Mr Brown and his ministers are always conspicuous by their absence.
He is quite happy to grab a photo opportunity pressing the flesh in Iraq when the lads are alive but seems to regard meeting their coffins after they have paid the ultimate price for his escapade as not photogenic enough for him.
Green shoots and wind turbines 1:35pm on 15 Jul 2009 I recall several years ago the panic was all about Global warming. Now that the statistics show that in the last 10 years the earth has not actually got any warmer the goalposts have been moved to Climate change.

This makes it harder to disprove since any unseasonal weather pattern is immediately labelled climate change.
Be very sceptical. Remember Iraq. It started with removing Saddams weapons of mass destruction and when none were found it quickly mutated into getting rid of a tyrannical dictator.
When was the last time you heard a government minister banging on the way they did in the Blair era about Weapons of mass destruction and 45 minute warnings etc.

So the UK will continue wasting billions of pounds, making energy more expensive and business less competitiive on the altar of climate change while China contiues to churn out cheap goods based on low labour & energy costs.

And then the government will wonder where all the manufacturing jobs in the UK went. How I wish politicians would dump these popularist climate change, carbon footprint and Green hobby horses. Sure environmental considerations are important but they are not the be all and end all of everything as many seem to think.
