Phil McNulty Q&A 5:45pm on 11 Nov 2009 I dont really see the issue with tipping the team that finished second last year to finish top this. The only problem is they have played truly awful football this season.

David Villa - he will join either Barca or Madrid in the summer. He wants to stay in Spain and both clubs want to sign him. I think the only way he will come here is if Real & Barca dont want him.

Chelsea this transfer window should be great fun. They'll be linked with everyone that can kick a ball but i think they'll get possibly two big signings (i'd love to see them get Aguero & Mata, both young, skillful players) and maybe a squad player. I dont get the impression RedRom wants to go out and spend £200 million again!

Man United are very fortunate to be where they are this season, the midfield just isn't good enough and i think they'll be found out by most big teams they play. They have already really; Liverpool & Chelsea both beat them and Arsenal played them off the park (but still lost??? only arsenal). Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Park, Valencia, Giggs - compare it to the midfields of Arsenal, Chelsea, City, even Spurs and Villa and really it isn't great. I think they might need to spend big in the next few transfer windows.

Chelsea to win the league by 5 or 6 points for me, although i'd love to see the united nations at The Emirates do it.
Robbo's England World Cup squad 7:51pm on 15 Oct 2009 Thank god for Capello. I can't beleive people actually want to take Owen to the World Cup. What has he done in the last 2 or 3 years to deserve to be in the squad?

Moving on, i'd definitely put James Milner on the plane, he can use both feet, bit of skill, decent final ball. He's looked good when he's had a chance as well. Much better than SWP for my money.

On the seedings for the play offs - DISGUSTING. Portugal and France will end up top seeds for the qualifying groups, top seeds for the play offs, then top seeds when the groups are drawn. Next time UEFA or FIFA talk about giving the smaller teams a chance i hope this is thrown back at them. They might as well not bother with the qualification groups at all. COME ON IRELAND. Whoever they draw i'll be cheering them on as well as every other "second seed" in the draw.

It's Lewis Hamiltons 3rd season in the sport, give the guy a chance to try and win elsewhere before shooting him down. Also hasn't Alonso only ever won titles with one team?

And it could have potentially worked, Raikkonen would have just done his thing and wouldn't have been at all bothered about Alonso being told he is number one driver. Raikkonen would have let the racing decide that. Would have been brilliant to see them competing against each other, two very different characters. Shame it didn't happen.

@80 - Is that not what they've tried with pairing him with Kovaleinen? I think McLaren should do what they do best; get two good drivers and give them both as much support as possible and let the best man win. It's what they always tried to do until the Hamilton/Alonso pairing went just a little bit wrong.

Alonso had a british race engineer last time i checked, so i'd suggest you possibly seem more concerned about britsh hatred of Alonso than the man himself.

Also, in F1 terms Ron Dennis is gone so probably not high on Alonsos list of priorities!

Couldn't agree more re Kimi and his apparent lack of personality. I for one love his interviews, all them journalists desperately trying to get a quote out of him and failing miserably, always makes me laugh.

Everyone seems to have a lot of love for Rosberg on here. I've always thought he seemed very good in qualifying and pretty average when it came to race time.

Also bearing in mind Lewis and Kimi are the only 2 drivers to get to grips with KERS, does anyone think there is a chance McLaren would try and run it again next year? I know there is a gentlemens agreement not to use it said to be in place between the teams but this is F1.....
Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 4:35pm on 30 Sep 2009 Can't wait to see how next season goes. As good as this one has been the prospect of Lewis and Kimi in McLarens and Alonso and Massa in Ferraris is brilliant.

I don't think there is much to choose between Kimi, Lewis and Alonso, they've all proved themselves to be exceptional drivers. But Massa still has something to prove so is perhaps the most dangerous of the lot.

Alonso v Hamilton!!! Can't wait.

Still for the remainder of this season..........COME ON RUBENS!!

Everything you say loses all credibility when you write the words

That has got to be the biggest load of tosh i've ever heard. The idea a modern day International & Premier League midfielder can be fat is frankly rubbish.

Also re-watch the final of the champions league and i think you'll see that the game changed when a certain German midfielder came on.

Spain was a freindly and we are always poor in them.
Rooney is always targeted and hasn't been sent off for some time.
Glen Johnson played well last night and if the centre backs hadn't given Eduardo 3 yards of space on the six yard line we probably wouldn't have conceded.
No creative talent in midfield???? Gerrard, Joe Cole, Lampard, Rooney dropping deep. How much more talent can you get in a midfield?

We are a good side. We have a chance. We are a side ranked in the top ten in the world, top scorers in Europe, undefeated in qualification and we have a great manager.

Of course we're not favourites by any means, but we have a chance.
