I have to disagree.

Under normal conditions cars are slower with more fuel purely because of the weight. Its the same as driving a road car full of passengers, it will take longer to accelerate and longer to slow the car down than it would with no passengers. The weight would only very slightly improve the grip NOT make it worse.
