Lessons learned 3:31pm on 30 Nov 2009 58. Absolutely. As i've tried to say before the existing "settlement" was'nt even dry on the Act when signed by her Gracious Majest before the NATS and fellow travellers were "whingeing" about lack of powers. If the NATS get their way on current "more powers" ,it'll take about 5 minutes before they start "whingeing" again about more powers. This will not stop until they get their way and BORE everybody till after the 29th vote they'll get their wicked way. Its funny is'nt it that the scots and welsh NATS want independance even though their "countries" are reliant on subsidies to feed their people whilst the english who fund us are over taxed and under represented in parliament and have no control over their money in devolved regions. Quite frankly why our DAVE does'nt proposed "hiving" off the celtic fringes by way of referendum and then we'll see where we are. If you look at Glasgow Rangers/Celtic with crowds of 50,000 plus every game are "begging " to join ENGLISH premier League,because of sky money and world wide coverage of english footbal. That soccer independance has resulted in Blackburn having greater financial resources than the "old firm". Its called ECONOMICS to all you NATS. In 5 years welsh rugby is going to be in financial melt down because we play our celtic cousins rather than english clubs just over the "border" so beloved by BBC Wales.
Lessons learned 12:48pm on 30 Nov 2009 Hello Dan. Thanks for comparing me with Cromwell,who was a major figure in our history,sorry British History. I would refer to you article in today's Telegraph by Boris Johnson Mayor of London. It refers to the funding of "largesse" from english taxpayers to Scotland.The subsaidies to Scotland,Wales and other regions come from London,south east and eastern England and without such funds we would be "bankrupt". The "running" of wales is a non-starter on economic grounds as economies within it are widely divergent in terms. The southeast of wales has close ties with Bristol are and London and Midlands,whilst north wales is tied in with Mersyside and manchester connurbations. If you look at Tesco they run their wales operations frpm Chepstow and Chesire because that how most efficient distribution works. The same should go for NHS et al,but NATS want some form of romantic wales which is is a "basket case" and could never get funding for its millions who rely on state for income.

My country is the UK and i happen to live in a region of it called wales!!It is'nt the unionists who have lack of vision/creativity but the unrealistic NATS who think that this piece of land called wales could survive economically on its own. In south wales we look East and not NORTH.so put up with it and lets have new M4 around Newport and not links to NORTH Wales.
Lessons learned 7:21pm on 29 Nov 2009 18. Your right the time,effort,expense for Ryder Cup has been excessive and I've never really understod why King Rhodri has be so supportive. The Irish economy has not benefitted from holding the event and in particular Golf with its rules and regulations and clubhouse mentalities is not really our Rhodri's scene is it?. theres no doubt our AM's will develop much great love for golf when its on and their professionalism/business experience will be much in evidence,bilingual of course.17. look Fo many of us very HAPPY that the north and particularly the western bit are far away from us in the south and long may that continue.

Who cares about south/north wales links except the seperatist PC and King Rhodri as main bodies of traffic are either a)local b) east to west or visa versa. I think your comments on our PROFESSIONAL rugby team can also be passed on to mickey mouse politicians down bay of irrelevance. They are obsessed with either a)nation building b)funding services for "underclass"c)welsh language encouragement,rather than bread and butter issues that would improve quality of life for average welsh person.If they concentrated on matters relevant to ordinary people and made success of it they could have more powers/or easier access to them but until then NO.
Holding your breath 5:54pm on 26 Nov 2009 I suppose one should expect the response from Adam price M.P. as he has a perpetual "gripe" that little wales has had a rough deal from the english and from proble the martians as well. Lets be absolutely frank and ask Plaid Cymru how in the present economic climate throught world,with jobs in manufacturing being lost,how could wales possible fund itself without the gift of english taxpayers money. Its a bit rich for PC who are determined to split wales from UK to ask for MORE MONEY from the english taxpayers. The responsibility of WAG is surely to ensure that current funding is ruthlessly analysed and services re-adjusted to current needs,no matter what the political storm it might create. Look at NHS expenditure and £1 Billion being wrongly allocated,well thats a start to go on with !!!
The Cardiff Concordat 9:02pm on 25 Nov 2009 Its pretty typical of Hain who makes the position of second hand car salesmen look like the calling of the higher professsions. The consensus for a YES vote is to be built up through the political classes and civil society before a referendum is to be offered by our Lord and Masters!!!. Surely the composition of the AWC comprised those exact persons and the results of the work of AWC proved that the people in wales were anxious to move to more powers for the Assembly.Who does he think he's kidding,as we all suspect/know there a major split in Labour,particularly as they were dragooned into getting into bed with their hated enemies and splitters of wales from UK,i.e. Plaid Cymru. All the politico's who want more powers nowand their friends and fellow travellers in BBC CYMRU/S4C are fully behind the granting of more powers as stipulated in Act,however how are they going to "guarantee" a YES vote in coming years with the impact of recession upon public expenditure cuts combined with phasing out of money from Europe(mainly English and German) which has greatly assisted King Rhodri in peddling the myth about welsh economic performances. The only hope for more powers grouping is the election of DAVE as Prime Minister and then blame the Conservative proper Government for correcting the imbalances in public expenditure and pretending that it would'nt happen under Labour and there fore vote for "more powers". The referendum could be a long time in coming,but get ready for the "brainwashing" from the Media as to how wales cannot survive without giving third raters more powers.

I agree with your last paragraph as proper devolution means transferring power down to the lowest level possible,and wherever down to the the individual to encourage self-reliance,within a framework to protect pooretc etc. All this current settlement has done is to transfer "power" to the centre in Cardiff who then send out Fuherer like directives to all and sundry,including local authorities who end up being mere "bag carriers",rather than having p[olicy made by themselves after decisions made by electorate. Wales is probably more centralised than under the old soviet system,with the centre if it gets it wrong forcing everybody to get it wrong!!. Why cannot there be different types of schooling in wales and see which is the best,rather than this one size fits all type. there should be much great accessibility to ALL public sector bodies with full accountability etc. I recently referred to issue (a scandal in my eyes) of the grafiti wall in North wales that was supported in principle by WAG to my AM,however not really interested as this was part of supporting "welshness",what ever that means to the man/woman in the Dog and Duck. Where is Kinnock when he's needed,and Lady Kinnock only seems interested in foreign fields,rather than ordinary folk like us. I personally have given up on welsh conservative group in Assembly as they are all trying to be more welsh than PC,rather than concentrating on the bread and butter issues that mean so much to ordinary people. We are all up a creek without paddle and awaiting the massive reductions in public expenditure after GE,who ever wins that bet of nails. In conclusion I think we need a new "centre" party in wales which would be supported by vast majority to put things
right" in an open and transparent and accountable manner.
The morning after ... 09:12am on 25 Nov 2009 Well it looks like our "sainted" First Minister is just another devious politician who as Harold wilson said "Leadership of Labour Party is like trying to ride two horses at the same time and going in opposite directions. The basic Labour supporter probably likes devolution because it allows them to live in a world of public expenditure that wales cannot afford from its own efforts,however to the NATS it is a mere stepping stone to the promised land of a welsh speaking,socialist ( but not for the leaders),republican paradise.To the NATS the basis laws on economic common sense make no inroads as the priority is to get us into an independant wales come what may and current settlement is only a staging post. Lets hope the Labour Party (The part which is Unionist and not King Rhodri part) destroys this sham of a Government and stands on its own,rather than rely on PC,the seperatist and isolationist gang.
Merry Christmas 07:39am on 20 Nov 2009 The 55+ have been lucky not to attend the MADRASAS now put in place by King Rhodri and NATS and subjected to "brainwashing" as far as welsh history is concerned. I would have thought that North wales would have been split between the East and West as was clearly shown in 1997 referendum. The reality is that North East Wales is almost completely tied into the Mersyside/Manchester/Cheshire economies and has little contact with Cardiff area. When I used to visit NW very regularly all the BBC channels were tuned to english programmes,rather than PC Television/Radio. The North West is very remote and as with all isolated areas looks inward and hopes to keep it like that with the wealth thrown at it by its "mates" in PC who are now in government.
