New dad Rooney born to star 10:02am on 04 Nov 2009 Akinfeev is an excellent keeper,a player that will certainly gain a move to a top European club soon. I just question a move to United, if as Fergie says that Ben Foster is United's keeper for the future. Obviously, Foster could see this in a positive light and work harder to tie-up the insecurities in his game, but equally it could hit the confidence of a seemingly under-confident player. Plus, I think United have other areas they need to strengthen such as buying an world class striker like David Villa etc.

Pellegrini's future still in the balance 5:08pm on 03 Nov 2009 I did a blog on this topic, I think that Pelligrini will ultimately end up being sacked. I thought that when he was given the Madrid job he lacked the character and experience to handle the heavy expectations that Real would come under this season. I wonder if he regrets leaving Villarreal.

Glimmer of hope as Newcastle show some heart 00:20am on 09 Aug 2009 newcastle need to get themselves sorted into a proper football club. the game today showed they are good enough to get out of the championship but only if they can get the right man in that will provide the players with a barrier to the drama off the pitch. shearer must get the job, it was ridiculous that he was at the game as a pundit. it is plain for eveyone to see how well he fits into the position, he is the right man to spearhood their promotion charge so give him the job!

Barnes back from the wilderness 10:49am on 04 Aug 2009 good luck to him. it's always difficult for ex-players who have had stellar careers to come into management. this is a chance for Barnes to re-establish himself after having struggled in his managerial career so far.

Flintoff denied century that means so much 12:17pm on 03 Aug 2009 I was gutted not to see him get his century yesterday. In the series he's proved his greatness with the ball at Lords so it would be brilliant if he could have done it with the bat. I mean it's not bad ending the series with a 5-for and a century to boot. I hope he gets it.

South America's wayward footballing stereotypes 10:56am on 03 Aug 2009 every team has a pragmatic element. the best footballing sides with all their grace and style undoubtledly have an element of steel to their play. look at barca this season, all the style in the world, but with key enforcers like Toure and Pique. Without a pragmatic approach you won't succeed in football.

No cricket? Time to sharpen up on poker 5:16pm on 01 Aug 2009 I have always wondered what players say to each other at the end of the over. The converstation must become pretty interesting when batters are in a big partnership, I mean how many times can you say good shot.

Big shame about today, wrecked our chances of going two-up.

I agree with the sentiments of my fellow commentators. I don't really know what Ray Illingworth has to do with anything, but I would be sure that he, like I, would want to see two full strength teams going at it hammer and tongue for the victory.
