Open spaces will not have kerbs or correct paving. The tactile paving we provide at crossing areas for visually impaired people is vital to their lives.
What did you think of The One Show? Guest: Peter Fonda 7:29pm on 02 Jul 2009 Road Signs - Dom's video on too many road signs is just ridiculous. I'm a Civil Engineer and design roads and traffic signs for a living. The standards are set by the DfT as to what is allowed on the road in terms of signing, as well as what signs should be there as mandatory. The reason these standards are in place is because drivers not paying attention, or drivers' poor observation towards the dangers of the road are not up to scratch without the use of these signs. They provide vital information to all drivers, pedestrians, cyclists - all road users. And with the influx of foreign people coming into the country who are not used to such road, it is even more imperative we equip are roads with the neccessary safety procedures to avoid accidents as best as possible.
