Semenya's sex test explained 12:06pm on 12 Sep 2009 As a South African - I find this story to be typically politicised by both the SA Government/ ANC as well as incorrectly handled by the South African athletics federation. We are quite used to misdirected and politicised events here - it is quite commonplace for persons in positions of power to misguidedly use controversial events in order to gain mileage for the ruling party. This athlete - if correctly tested prior to the event would not have to go thro' this highly emabarrassing series of events and if handled by competent SA authorities which is clearly not the case here would not have to suffer this humiliatin. Unfortunately officials in SA are not equipped intellectually to handle this affair on a local or international aren and have consistently dug themselves deeper into trouble with the IAAF. I just hope that the IAAF sanction the organising bodies in SA and not the athletes because it is clear to me that the politically appointed athletics officials in SA are clearly out of their depth.
Lions ratings: third Test 12:19pm on 07 Jul 2009 I thought that Rob Kearney was brilliant ! - and I am from SA so I am not biased - however my man of the series has got to go to Ian McGeechan. If only SA had a coach of his quality!

This - eye gougeing, yellow cards and the odd fistfight aside - The BIL tour was a great event here in SA. Fantastic rugby from corner to corner - congrats to Ian McGeechan and team for a good series. Rob Kearney is just brilliant! BOD and Riki Flutey fantastic !

Lions ratings: third Test 1:00pm on 06 Jul 2009 Well done to the Lions for a superb win - I am of the opinion that Rob Kearney is a fantastic full back, kicks brilliantly and made few mistakes. Riki Flutey played well and unfortunately Brian O' Driscoll was unable to play but has to be one of the best centres currently worldwide. Not to take anything away from the forwards who also played well and denied ball to the boks. Unfortunately for us - Ian McGeechan also outwitted the bok management and coaches.

De Villiers: Misunderstood or liability? 12:57pm on 03 Jul 2009 My Granny is a better coach than PDV - cos' she would just sit on the side and let the assistant coaches who are properly qualified for the job get on with it!.

De Villiers: Misunderstood or liability? 9:34pm on 02 Jul 2009 Graham Henry, Ian McGeechan, Robbie Deans, Jake White, Clive Woodward, Eddie Jones - these are coaches who bring out the best of their players, who understand what it takes to mould players into professionals.
The boks are lumped with a third rate coach fighting with the press, making incomprehensible statements, acting like a clown - a general embarrasment to SA. No other current national coach behaves like this!
I simply cannot see a coach like this being employed in the UK,France, Australia or New Zealand!
Have officials turned a blind eye to Burger? 12:54pm on 01 Jul 2009 As a South African I find it quite embarrasing when listening to Peter de Villiers. I find him to be unprofessional, evasive, incompetent as well as incomprehensible. Fortunately most people cannot understand what he is saying and I can confirm that it is usually not rational. I agree with Brian O' Driscoll that the IRB should deal properly with his controversial outbursts as clearly the South African Rugby Board are incapable of competent decisionmaking. Nevertheless this has been a great tour and I have the utmost respect for Ian McGeechan and team who have put up a fantastic display. Hopefully the Lions tours will continue far into the future as they are a great event and it is wonderful to have the BIL touring in SA.
