Denier, sceptic or creationist? How about none of the above? 11:23pm on 16 Jul 2009 I would agree that certain parties are prone to name calling and sacrastic remarks, adding no content, forcing those who are interested in the issues, in discussion and debate, to sort through all the "chaff", as another poster described it. I would suggest that any particular poster be allowed only 10% of the posts.

I merely offered my opinion on the matter at hand, whether Al Gore deserved the PEACE prize. I emphasize the word "peace" in that Al might have deserved some other prize, but "Peace" still seems mis-targetted??

Notwithstanding your attack against me, you didn't address my concern. The Peace Prize is designated to go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."

This doesn't seem to me to apply to Al Gore, whether or not one agrees with his ideology.

What makes me unconvinced is the fact that the "proof" of AGW comes from mathematical models, as well as the fact that global temperatures have remained steady over the last decade or so. What makes me suspicious is all the hype and the hyperbole coming from the pro-AGW folks, who seem to attribute any adversity or change to global warming. What scares me is that some of the pro-AGW people want to impose draconian taxes to reduce energy usage, taxes sure to hurt the Western poor and eliminate the chances of many in the undeveloped countries to live a better life.
What would convince me in AGW is a rise in global temperatures over the next decade.
Let me ask you the same question: what would convince you that we are not in the throes of AGW? What if global temperatures remained steady over the next decade? What if global temperatures dropped over the next decade? If not a decade, how long??

Yes, we find that too much rainfall and too little rainfall have both been blamed on global warming as witness the recent US government report.

Might as well face it, you're addicted to phosphorus 5:57pm on 24 Jun 2009 Talk about a worthless prediction. I guess bureaucrats need to justify their salaries by putting out "The sky is falling!!" predictions from time to time.
But is this something we need to worry about? Not in the least. Mankind has proven adept at finding new sources of resources or new resources to replace the old.
This brings to mind the famous Julian Simon - Paul Ehrlich wager of 1980:
