Ponting left laughing as England get the script wrong 1:26pm on 10 Aug 2009 England can still beat the Aussies although not if we choose a 39 year old with an average of 27. something in test cricket. Has everyone forgotten that Ramps may be a lovely bloke and a hell of a dancer but always froze on the big occasion, 2 centuries in 52 tests, has he really got the pedigree to save England? Marcus Trescothick on the other hand if only he would play a one off test.
My eleven would be Stauss, Cook, Key (Tres if he would play)Collingwood,Bopara, Prior, Flintoff (if he is fit), Broad, Swann, Harmi and Anderson.
This Aussi side are not bad, but they are not the side of old, in the last year they have lost a home series for the time since the stone age, lost at Lords for the first time since the ice age. COME ON ENGLAND BE POSITIVE. YOU HAVE ONE ONCE AND CAN DO SO AGAIN.
Getting away with it 12:22pm on 13 Jul 2009 Unlucky Australia you were the better team for a big part of the match, as you were in Lords 2005, only this time you don't have legends to turn to to win the match. I got the impression that England felt they were going to win from day 1 however this was quickly blown away. Roll on Lords.
Owen worth Man Utd gamble 01:02am on 05 Jul 2009 Well everyone it really is happening, my messages to everyone (respectfully) are.
1. Liverpool fans stop moaning, you could have had him back but did not want him. Show some respect and remember the fantastic service he gave to the club.

2. Newcastle Why, Why, Why? You could have been a great side had you shown a little patience, The way Big Sam was traeted was a disgrace. Why would a proven footballer like MO wanted to play for such a suicidal club. Oh and by the way much as I love the north/east, huge clubs win trophies a little more often than every 50 years.

3. Man U in particular Sir Alex, congratulations for having the common sense for realising that an international player with 40 goals on a free transfer was a chance to be grabbed.

4. Everton fans (myself included ) lets all go and cry in the corner for missing a good chance. David (Moyes) you are a god but we have missed a trick on this one.
A nation holds its breath for Flintoff 00:50am on 05 Jul 2009 To Posts No 5 & 6, Old Flintorff is not a bad number 7 now is he? he also has experience of beating Australia. Make no mistake this Aussie side is the WEAKEST to tour here for over 20 years, Is there really anyone who can play better than him at 7?

Rememebr Botham was the same age and written off when he toured Australia in 86/87 and we all know what happened then. Flintoff is a better player now than IT was then.

In the right position he could be a golden asset. Go England! This Aussie side is there for the taking.

Final flourish leaves Lions lamenting what might have been 00:41am on 05 Jul 2009 Well it's all over! Well done South Africa you won the series 2-1 and proved you are the best team in the world! but a little humility please, it was that close. There has been debate about certain decisions and actions but hey that's sport. It was a great series and bodes well for the future.

Owen worth Man Utd gamble 11:41am on 03 Jul 2009 As an Everton fan I am a bit gutted but as an England fan delighted with his move. Yes Michael has been injured recently but he has the unique record of one goal in more or less every two games at EVERY level he has ever played. Man U are getting free a striker who has scored 40 international goals. Yes he has lost a little pace but as a "fox in the box" there are few that match up to him.
Finally Fergie is no fool, I wonder.......
Lions left to lick wounds after epic failure 1:05pm on 29 Jun 2009 Well done South Africa! Although the second test will be remembered for Berger's criminal act which ultomately he and team were allowed to get away with. this is a shame because this is a great Springbok side, better than NZ 4 years ago although like NZ there seemed to be a need to cheat.Rugby is tough physical game but for the second tour running a high profile player has been allowed to get away with totally CRIMINAL behaviour.
Comeback kings conquer the world 09:29am on 22 Jun 2009 Well done Pakistan! Although a die hard England fan,cricket needs Pakiistan, awful one moment and then spell bindingly brilliant the next, they are to cricket what france is to rugby union. Exciting, breath taking and always worth a bet as to which team turns up. Great tournament though. The sooner teams start there touring the better.
