Tyre Bat! 12:23pm on 10 Oct 2009 I have just noticed that the moderators have remove the link I made in my previous post. Just to clarify the nature of that link. The URL pointed to a You Tube video of a seal being clubbed to death in the anual Canadian Seal Pup Cull. The purpose of this link was in hope that Mark himself would view the video and come to the conclusion that smashing a dog in the head with a baseball bat is not an acceptable way to behave.

Will not be following anymore of Marks journey!

Mexico, Your Questions 2:21pm on 24 Sep 2009 Ian Hibbel's journey through the Darien Gap is just amazing, I somehow doubt mark will be recreating this feet. I'm sure he would have the resolve to do it, just doubt it fits in with his BBC time schedule.
Security wise, the whole area from Darien through most of Columbia seems very dodgy, I would bypass the whole place in an aeroplane. I do hope Mark finds away through without having to resort to powered transport, seems a shame to corrupt his self propelled journey with a ride in a plane. I am sure the BBC could hire some ex SAS guys for security back up.
Just keep pedalling there Mark, you're doing a grand job, I would be getting very excited approaching the Pacific, just love swimming in the sea! will this be the first you have seen the sea since Anchorage?

Very much inspired by your trip, as a non cyclist I decided to do a mini one for myself, my first crossing of a country, Ardrossan to Berwick, 150 mile (wind assisted) two days, ok with the fitness, struggled day 2 with saddle sores, but the loneliness was awful.

The loneliness thing took me very much by surprise, as a hill walker I often spend 2 or 3 days in remote places by myself, sometimes not even seeing another person for that time, and I just adore the solitude. I often think it is the solitude why I enjoy the hills so much. So why the loneliness of being on a bike, puzzles me!

Anyway, back to your trip, still tuning in every day to check your progress, it’s an amazing adventure you’re on. What are your plans for the Darien Gap, kayak around the edge or hack through the centre, don't think there is a road through it yet?

Mountain Biking in Moab 5:56pm on 24 Aug 2009 So you take a day off from an 18,000 mile epic pan american cycle traverse, and you spend that free day on a mountain bike, you're certainly a bit of an enthusiast when it comes to two wheels and some lycra.
I guess its Monument Valley for you next, hope it is as spectacular as I imagine.

Got into following Mark when I thought he was doing some monster ridgewalk along the Rockies and Andies, a little dissapointed when i realised he was doin it by bike LOL, but now more than impressed, what a way to travel! what an adventure! what a way to see the world! have to tune in every night to see where he's got to. He must have a good set of legs on him to chalk up these big distances day in day out on a very heavy bike. Respect due!
Hope to cross my very first country in the next few weeks, Ayr to Berwick, waiting for a good forcast and a favourable wind. Watch your back Mark I'll be catching you up. LOL
Change Of Saddle 7:58pm on 14 Aug 2009 Mark. Something to take your mind off those exciting road signs. In Idaho they have loads of peculiar round fields, see google maps at http://tiny.cc/6VkWk ,some of them are quite big, over a mile in diameter, what are they doing?
Hope you get back "In the Zone" soon, I guess a bit soul destroying pedaling all day with that can't be bothered worn out feeling
