Don't know how you can say that! I'm forever putting forward hard policy ideas - I reckon I do that far more than most people on here (who just seem to moan about the way life is "today" and blame Gordon Brown for everything bar the weather). For example, top ten on Education:

- no faith schools
- remove private opt out
- traditional teaching methods
- streaming where appropriate
- national curriculum
- mix of academic, practical, vocational
- increase teacher pay
- rigorous enforcement of standards
- sack bad teachers
- target resource to deprived areas"

Why dont we just BAN all schools and give 4year old a one days course on how th claime benefits and leave them to a life on to dole

actually 3 questions, the one "When did the prime minister realise he was infallible?" in which he admited that he reacted to issues and not plan for them!

Given that Grodan Brown set the threshold for the tax credits and IF they fill in tax returns there is not a tick box that says DONT pay me my tax credit how exactly do this high earning couple opt out of receiving their intitlment?

More to the point why are we giving India aid?

We canceled our space program because we could not afford it, Brown turned down a cheap satalite launch system using the volcans and decomisioned balistic missiles because he had no way for the airforce to make a profit out of each launch.

Yes India spend more on their space program than the Aid we give them, IE they could cancel their space program and NOT need our aid.

Why are we losing/paying so much so that the other shair holders and the bank can pull out of our grantees?
Map of the Week: Floods of Tears 09:22am on 23 Nov 2009 Didnt Brown and his envirmental Minister state after the floods 2 years ago (Brown's first crissis as PM) that this was a once in a life time flood that they would learn from it and that would NOT happen again.

Then again Brown CUT the enviormental agancies flood control budget by 700m a year the year before!

As we are getting floods EVEY year and have been for a few years the cut looks like another needed budget (like for example Helicopters) that Brown slashed as he could not see any votes in it!

derekbarker, im confused!

Im in the process of doing the probate for a wifes aunt, she lived in a run down area in south london in a modist town house, which she lived in since the war. The house was brought to be her marital home but her partner was killed in the war and she lived alone in the house ever since.

She was a nurse all her working life.

She was not well off, despite having just under 2k in the bank and living off the state pension, she NEVER received state help YET her estate will pay just short of 120k in death duties.

Her only crime was not to get married which would have doubled her tax allowance.

But hay ho as you put it she MUST be in the top 3% of the wealthest in country.
Not the Queen's Speech 2:58pm on 18 Nov 2009 As for track record, The goverment is pledged to abolish fuel poverty by NEXT year.

The old lady who lives down the road from us receives state pension, some benefits and a small private pension, she has approx £170 a week to live on.

Living in a rural area her house is on oil, she has a rayburn oven with back boiler, which burns 20ltrs of heating oil a day (if heating is on 4 hours only heating a few rooms and she uses the oven). Bare in mind that she is house bound and think how long u have your heating on when at home.

20lts heeting oil is currently 42p a ltr + VAT so her winter heating bill is £8.82 per DAY or £61.74 a week

She also uses electricity which i have ignored for this example.

£61.74 is 36% of her income before council TAX or 42% of her weekly income AFTER she has paid council tax.

Even averaging it out over the year she spends over 20% of her income on OIL, last year it was even worse as local heating peaked at 81p a Ltr almost double the current price.

There are NO scheams for reduced bills for OIL they only cover Gas and Electricity!

So much for abolishing fuel poverty by 2010
