Uruguay face tactical dilemma 09:35am on 05 Oct 2009 The population of Scotland is higher than Uruguay, so it is hardly any surprise that Uruguay haven't had any impact on the international stage in recent times. However, man for man, I know which team I would prefer.

That said, it would be nice if Ecuador did qualify for the World CUp Finals again and go one better than their second-round knockout to England last time in Germany. Hopefully at the expense of Argentina... [Unsuitable/Broken URL removed by Moderator]
Winners and boozers 11:39am on 28 Sep 2009 Everbody thinks Wenger has been some kind of forward-thinking manager during his time in England, introducing a culture of better diet and fitness into the football mindset. Well, with his pub admission he has been exposed as a fraud. As any Saturday afternoon footballer knows, the correct fuel for playing is lager and pork scratchings on the preceeding Friday night.

Can football learn from rugby league's play-offs? 07:45am on 28 Sep 2009 Play-offs are no good, end of story. The league, whichever one it might be, should be awarded to the team who performed most consistently for the duration of the competition and that is that. Otherwise we would end up with a situation where certain sides (e.g. any team managed by Rafa Benitez...) would rest key players throughout the season to keep them fresh for the major competition at the season's end.

Play-offs wouldn't find the best side in a competition. It would identify the freshest in-form side at the end of a long season, and no real football fan wants that. http://www.loserscomesecond.com/

Review of the week 7:49pm on 25 Sep 2009 I don't know which is the most ridiculous story this week. Sol Campbell doing one from Notts County, or Brian Robson doing one to Thailand. But ow will this affect Robson's role as a Manchester United ambassador? Is he still eployed by United as well? Maybe Ferguson will use Robson as a scout. United will buy a Thai international and stick him in the reserves so that the club can sell loads of replica shirts in Thailand. I am so cyncial. http://www.loserscomesecond.com/

Player burn-out worries Monty 11:11am on 21 Sep 2009 Montgomerie will be a disaster. The non-major winning me, me, me character will wind up 'his' players somehow and will end up thinking he is bigger than the Ryder Cup itself.

Not only that, we are some way off the contest anyway. We will all be sick of hearing about the Ryder Cup by the time it comes round!

Dunga shows way to Maradona 09:38am on 14 Sep 2009 The fact Dunga is doing better than Maradona might be something to do with the fact Dunga was a leader of men when captain of a workmanlike World Cup-winning Brazil back in 1994 whereas Maradona was (allegedly..!) a narcissistic, cocaine-snorting nutcase. The latter personality profile is unlikely to appear on many successful CVs other than in the world of professional football.
