Springwatch 2009 - new presenter team announced 8:10pm on 11 Jun 2009 Over the past week we've noticed a pair of Robins trying to keep track of their fledglings although we can't fathom how many they've got! We've also spotted a Blackbirds nest in our front garden in the Hydrangea Petiolaris. We still don't know how many fledglings there are but the poor little mites came out and about today in the torrential downpours. We've seen Bluetits and Great-tits feeding their young and the back garden's full of baby birds flapping about all over the place now - it's great! We've never seen so much birdlife in our garden before and we've lived here for over 19 years.
Ideas for Autumnwatch 7:44pm on 11 Jun 2009 I've got a really good idea for all forthcoming Springwatch series ... keep Chris Packham because he outshines Bill Oddie in all respects. Not only is he easier on the eye he's far more respectful to Kate Humble than Bill ever was by letting her speak. I also like Martin as he's also a natural in front of the camera. I'm sorry Bill isn't well at the moment, but he's proved he can't hold it together long enough and personally I think the programme is far better without him.
Have you heard a cuckoo? 9:22pm on 28 May 2009 I heard a cuckoo in the woods near the Black Knowl caravan club site in Brockenhurst on April 17th at about 10 oclock in the morning. I even recorded it onto my mobile phone but only because I thought my husband wouldn't believe me!
