Can you explain your fruit analogy to me please, preferably without any squishing and juicing. I mean.... it has been made to look as if the two graphs fit together quite well when one set of data is manipulated to move into the new graph position. Is that wrong then?

Thanks. It looks as if you have swallowed the entire medical dictionary at post 177. Those of us on statins do not get the same cytokinic response, which was pointed out a long time ago in The New Scientist (or one of the other science journals).
I could talk a lot more about this subject but it would not be appropriate on a blog.

Yeh, well... er...I have written it as it says. Apparently there is such a thing as low-pathogenic avian flu. High pathogenic H51N comes from Asia and low pathogenic H5N1 comes from North America, or so they say.
Have a read on a google search. The WHO are warning of a possible resurgence of H5N1 as it is popping up in several places. Anyway, I shall wear my marigold gloves and have my antibacterial spray handy when I prepare the christmas turkey..... just in case.

With low pathogenic H5N1 now present in Germany, poultry farmers are going to have a hard time preventing wild birds carrying the disease, from getting in to their nice warm barns.
Person-to-person spread of Tamiflu-resistant strain of swine flu 09:29am on 24 Nov 2009 Hi, just popped by for a chat. Last week I was put in the optimum conditions to catch SF. Hot, dry conditions, poor ventilation and over 100 young people crammed into a small area. Some of the young people were coughing ominously, and the crammed-in session lasted over an hour. How long does it take to catch SF? One week? Staff sickness is at very high levels in our neck of the woods which means I get plenty of work.
To cap it all, at the doctors surgery, a young man coughed violently into his hand and then opened the surgery door to go outside. I followed, gingerly opening the same door thinking, I must remember to wash my hands as soon as possible. This SF thing is a bit of a sod because without testing, no one knows if they have already had the bug.
I hope everyone who is feeling unwell gets better soon, some of you sound pretty under the weather. Anyway, it will soon be Christmas. ;o)

Copenhagen Countdown: 17 days 5:48pm on 23 Nov 2009 Everyone is getting so excited on here today. Christmas come early for you. Who was it who said something about hiding a truth between two lies? A bit like a burger with the soft artificially puffed up bread on the outside and the juicy mechanically recovered meat in the middle, garnished with a pickle or two and a piece of soggy lettuce. Nothing, absolutely nothing genuinely secret slips out accidently. Don't get too excited, your burger might turn out to be just another red herring. Hey, what do I know, I am just some daft old grannie popping in for a chat.

Our weather in GB has been worth talking about for a change. I feel sorry for those up North who are in for a cold, stinky, damp Christmas, unless their families club together and give them a break away from the place.

Is the excess rain this November normal or is it a symptom of global warming?

As a child I remember lots of flooding and cars floating in deep water. I remember thick snow so deep that we had enough to build an igloo, which stayed frozen until the Spring. The frost on the insides of the window would create wild patterns in which we scraped our own designs of smiling faces. Frozen toes were normal in winter and the painful agony on warming them up was also normal. Chilblains were the normal itchy result of too long in the cold. Cold fingers would be screamingly painful on awakening from being semi frozen and again a normal condition of winter.
My geraniums are still growing and flowering out of doors, who ever would have heard of such a thing a childhood ago? It is almost warm enough to go out without a coat (except for the high winds)

I was waiting for the thought police to come and grab all of us bloggers in our sleep, but we are still here and still
blogging about this-and-that while some of you blog terribly important sounding facts which confuse and confound us mere mortals. Thanks to swirly paint, I think I am beginning to understand climate as being different from weather.
