Paranormal Activity 1:15pm on 04 Dec 2009 Perhaps is should have been called paranoid activity instead, is it just what happens to people after the film that make people think it is scary? i suppose you have to have the kind of imagination that would react to this film in a certain way, the noise the central heating pump has made for the past 30 years is suddenly a vengeful demon from the nether world, or maybe the possibility that it might be.
Tell us what you thought about Unpsrung 11:05am on 23 Nov 2009 please, please, please sort Martin's bits of paper out!! a nice clip board perhaps with a nice easy to find list, perhaps a little competition with chris and his album covers!
Autumnwatch website: how did it do? 10:53am on 23 Nov 2009 generally very good, but if you have quizes please remember to put the answers up on the website as well as on the programme, they were probably meant to go on unsprung but martin, bless him, does bumble along and things enevitably drop off the show.

Also maybe a dedicated blog page for questions about the previous shows subjects as well as the message boards, makes it much easier to post questions in the relivant topic and maybe for other people to post answers.
Call of Civic Duty 2 10:05am on 19 Nov 2009 this debate has been going on since the invention of writing and probably since the invention of language itself! many of the great writers and artists of history have been banned or at least been held as a degrading influence at some point or another. While i'm not comparing Socretes to c.o.d the basic agument is the same, people do nasty stuff to each other because they want to not because of a book, video game or horror film. You simply cannot persicute the massive majority of people who enjoy these things just because a miniscule minority do nasty stuff.

As many others have pointed out it is NOT a game for children and any responsible adult should not let children play it.
Screening Room: Disaster! 2:56pm on 12 Nov 2009 you have to divide distaster movies though

natural disaster: a long often tedious build up to what is in effect something that lasts about half a minute, the epitomy of which is earthquake or the geographically inaccurate krakatoa east of java. also as a geologist they are full of "that would never happen" moments for me (stand that close to lava and youd end up looking like a lump of charcoal or that jeep would never out run a volcanic eruption).

man made disasters: my particular favourite towering inferno the star studded film about a building on fire. The hero who says "i told you so" throughout is particulary commonplace in this genre

Alien invasion/monsters: just because it only happens to one person dosent mean its not a disaster movie so Alien must be in this catagory (lets be fair its pretty disasterous for riply). The haunt of the modern blockbuster, independence day, war of the worlds ect.

having said this i cant really think of a disaster movie that dosent have , i hesitate to say happy ending, a sense that it'll be all right in the endness to it. Anyone think of a truly, no hope at all for anyone disaster film?

The rules for eco-birding 11:09am on 06 Nov 2009 Not that i'm being competative or anything (allthough i am)the score for the 4th nov is 30, remembered i had a front garden as well as a back (handy tip there for free). Also a question, i saw a few sparrows collecting feathers and bits of grass, do they insulate their winter roosts?

The rules for eco-birding 10:59am on 03 Nov 2009 eco-birding results for 2nd Nov from merthyr tydfil in south wales, a total of 23 species on this particular day, but have recorded 43 in total over the past few years.

nuthatch (1st time in garden)

jakdaw (seen a white jakdaw this year but havent seen it for a few weeks)

redwing (1st of year feeding of hawthorn berries)
wood pigeon (one of which was the lesser known kamakazi pigeon and flew into my kitchen window, it bounced)
