New name for a new economy? 5:54pm on 13 Nov 2009 A few years ago the BBC had a brilliant documentary called the Trap, which - even before the whole bubble collapsed - explained why it would eventually. Unfortunately they have never seen any reason to repeat it or bring it out as a DVD. Perhaps they should now.
The Trap seems a perfect name for the kind of economy that we are locked in now....
An embarrassment of cuts 10:01am on 06 Oct 2009 Hmm, even if it does not save vast amounts, freezing top pay would at least BEGIN to do one thing that is desperately needed: narrow the gap between top and bottom incomes. If only for that reason it would be a good idea. And why are the unions protesting? Don't tell me they are trying to get in bed with the Tories now. Have they forgotten Thatcher?
Labour bets on bashing bankers 10:10am on 29 Sep 2009 Forgive me if I say something stupid, but....
If the banks tell us that they NEED to pay those enormous salaries-plus-bonuses to get the good people in, exactly where have the geniuses they attracted with all their money-waving got us?
Perhaps it is time to look for people who are less interested in filling their own pockets, and more in the general interest of the company they work for, and in contributing to the welfare of the society they live in. Like parlementarians. Oops......

Wealth creation does only benefit a nation if it contributes to everybody's welfare - not just that of the top one percent or so....
Why don't the Conservatives spell out their plans? 11:13am on 09 Sep 2009 New plans for privatization? I thought we all knew by now that privatization is the most expensive and least efficient way of cutting costs any government can come up with.....
What are the chances of dying from swine flu? 2:40pm on 15 Jul 2009 It is clear from all blogs and comments that most people are NOT worried, and NOT interested in getting vaccines. Why is the health service so determined to frighten us by hammering on about it? Let's face it, if the goverment tells us there is no need to panic, we all tend to get a little worried....

I can't help thinking that there is a major interest here from the pharmaceutical companies, who, in the end, are the only ones to profit from it.
Predictions should come with a health warning 2:52pm on 03 Jul 2009 Can we please stop panicking? It's only flu, for Christ's sake.....
Transparency League Table 07:29am on 27 May 2009 The table is even better news for Caroline Lucas, MEP of the Green Party, who came first. You could have mentioned that as well.....
