Trailer Treachery 5:11pm on 21 Oct 2009 Bram Stoker’s Dracula has got to be the worse culprit for this.

I love the Dracula movies from the Universal and Hammer days, but the trailer, the film makers and the actors gave the impression that this was a faithful adaptation of the classic novel, which it clearly wasn‘t.

I would have enjoyed the movie more, despite the inconsistencies between the film and the novel, but it’s the wooden performance of Keanu Reeves, who shamelessly slaughters the British accent, and spoils what could have been a fun, and over the top Coppola movie.

I watched it for the first time when it was re-released back in the early 90s with BBFC cuts, and I really couldn't get in to it, because the scenes and the music kept jumping all over the place, which was mainly due to the BBFC cuts, which totally ruined the film, and in the end I thought what a load of crap.

Several years later, I gave the film a second chance and bought it on region 1 DVD, and seeing it uncut for the first time, I absolutely loved it. With each viewing depending on your mood, you either wince
at a particular scene (pencil in the ankle), or you laugh.

The Exorcist is another example. The only way I was able to watch the film was on pirate video, so when it was shown on the cinema, it was a whole new experience, and I noticed things I couldn’t really see on a 100th generation pirate copy.

He said: The British Board of Film Classification is passing more and more violent films.

But councils do have the power to ban such films and I welcome any taking this tough line.

Vivienne Pattison, director of Mediawatch, called for tighter controls. She said: Studies link exposure to film violence with violent behaviour. If there is the slightest chance that media violence can cause harm, is it worth the risk?”

I fear that if the Tory's get back in to power, we could be heading for another video nasty scare, with the Murdoch newspapers waving the moral panic banner just like they did back in 1984, and in 1993.

You hum it and I'll play it 6:56pm on 06 Oct 2009 Like I said before, they're actors, they're paid to act, we complain endlessly when singers try to act, such as Bowie (man who Fell to Earth wasn't really a stretch for him), Sting, and Jagger, who no matter what time period they're in, they still want to keep they're 80s hair style, (Bowie in Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence), which I find even more annoying, than actors pretending to play instruments.

I like Jennifer Aniston, but she's like the B movie version of Sandra Bullock, she accepts rolls that Sandra Bullock turns down.
The Greatest Megabudget Movie Ever Made 5:03pm on 01 Oct 2009 The reason Last Action Hero bombed not because of the story, it was the fact that the audience of the time just wanted to see Arnie send himself up in a spoof Action movie.

The movie was patronising, particularly, the last part of the film when Arnie goes in to the real world, and realises that the things that happens in the movies don't really happen in real life, which I guess that was another turn off for the audience, because they felt patronised.

We know Arnie, Stallone, and Willis movies don’t really happen in real life, but we love seeing those movies for escapism.

Last Action Hero came out at the time Hollywood wanted to make kid friendly films, and tried to make movies that would be aimed at the adult market in to PG-13 (12A) friendly movies.

Classic example Army of Darkness, where the first two were unrelenting shock fest , limbs flying, and blood splattering, AoD was basically a slapstick comedy, with talking skeletons.

The studios wanted a PG-13 but the MPAA still ended up giving it an R rating, and the BBFC awarded it a 15 certificate.

The same with Terminator 2, Arnie no longer went around killing people, he just knee capped them, or beat them up instead of ripping their guts out to acquire their clothes. Which was a bit extreme, but that was the character of the Terminator, that was what he was programmed for, an unstoppable killing machine.

Robocop 2 was I think, a satire on the studios, and parent groups, who wanted to water down violent action heroes in to kid friendly ones. Robocop 2 was about OCP reprogramming Robocop in to a street friendly cop, instead of a violent no nonsense crime fighter.
The Greatest Megabudget Movie Ever Made 07:59am on 30 Sep 2009 I recently watched Masters of the Universe, that was a god awful film done on the cheap by Golan Globus, producers of other tripe such as Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
The Greatest Megabudget Movie Ever Made 3:18pm on 29 Sep 2009 Howard the Duck is a truely awful film, there is nothing good about it whatsoever, I remember as a kid being bored by it.

Dune however is an excellent film, for its excessiveness, for it being disjointed, and occasionally strays from the novel, but unlike the Star Wars clones of the 80s, it does stand alone as being truly original, even though it's a complete mess, and it has Sting who is terribly miscast as Feyd-Rautha, in a strange tight blue underwear.

Imagine what Lynch could have done with Return of the Jedi.

Music Lesson 9:40pm on 25 Sep 2009 I don't really care. It doesn't bother me, there are more important things in the world to worry about than worrying about an actor pretending to play an instrument. That’s why they are called actors, they get paid huge amounts of money to pretend to be people who can do things.
