How should the NHS be reformed? 10:05am on 10 Jun 2009 Cut the number of managers (no I do not work in the NHS but have knowledge of the structures etc.)

Ask them this:

How many volunteers work in the NHS ... How much money is spent on mental health patients compared to other kinds of patient. Indeed ask them how many mental health patients compared to others and then compare spend...

If he is that GOOD, get Alan Sugar to run it!

In the NHS, there is a culture of apathy, jobs for the boys and girls where faces fit, people employed from agencies when there are enough hospital staff to do the job.. the list goes on and on...

Why is it when you ask for people to be like a business, everyone goes hysterical. From my experience you can think efficiency and not be mercenary...

Time for a re-conditioning of their minds. Bit like MPs and civil servants actually, and yes the BBC as well. To be fair the BBC has an independent board; or so we are led to believe.

As for paying more, it is always brought out... look at paying more for dentists; has it got better.... No.... we are just paying more... so don't be silly... we already pay too much...

Governments do not like to accept evidence to say that the whole lot is run poorly.

Investigate how the money is being spent.. Do not employ past NHS staff to inspect them.. employ investigators as well as real assertive outspoken service users...

Consultations are a waste of time and public money...

Remember the NHS staff overeat (see the size of nurse) they smoke... drink alcohol.. it goes on and on... if we adopt some tactics voiced on the phone-in we would not have anyone to treat us!

THOSE THAT STAY NEED RETRAINING OF THE HIGHEST ORDER... OUTSIDE TRAINERS PLEASE..IT NEEDS CHANGING

That is democracy, there are people you will never agree with.

However, there have been many times people are duped into following such extremist views or promises.

You want to start worrying now as the so-called mainstream political party is wanting to bring the vote down to 16.

There is still hope for us all yet; as long as the media stops the hysterical frenzies and have constructive debate with balanced views and honest stories. The BBC is included here (Five Live Mr Pinar)!
Should smokers pay for treatment? 09:32am on 09 Jun 2009 Smokers (and I am not one) already pay taxes like the rest of us, so don't be silly.

Will the government be asking all public employees to pay to go to work...

Indeed, will we all have to pay more just for living; it seems like we do already. More tax, more local taxes, less services .. yet those that so called lead this country and public services get more and more money.. really good pensions and not usually held to account.

The question should be why is it that the NHS has not been made more efficient, although it still gets more and more money. Moreover, it has so many those volunteers, cancer patients are more likely to be treated through charities, the list goes on and on. Where is all that money going?

We are being led astray with the scapegoat argument.
Should Gordon Brown go? 11:47am on 08 Jun 2009 All this speculation seems to be on good for the fact that the BBC and other broadcasters' reporters and presenters are being kept in a job.

The BBC news at present is going on about some junior minister; who is she, another one the MPs who have used the system for themselves? Bandwagon springs to mind. If she is that god why has it taken her this long to speak up!

All I know is that the state of our country is due to both tory and so-called new labour policies. It is about time the media focused in on this; People are losing their jobs, their homes, taxes are going up, and the state of our roads are a national disgrace.

Go after these MPs ask them what they stand for, ask why they are going on holiday when they end to sort the whole system out and be brought to account; it is no good keep calling for an election, which I want, but the electorate wants to know what system we are voting for, not be given yet more empty promises.

BBC and other broadcasters that is your challenge, do hold them to account; go after them all and stop chasing unknowns or silly gossip for the sake of it!
Are reality TV programmes out of control? 09:12am on 04 Jun 2009 There are too many of them and too many highly paid presenters. I wonder which presenter or news presenter is it to go out in the wild, BBC you even more so of late, and all broadcasters are losing the plot.

I would say this, if you really want good television then bring back common sense and not jobs for the girls and boys, all of whom seem to be laughing as they do not have job cuts etc. etc.

Remember, we gave up holding public hangings. So some bright young thing says: oh yes let us have all and sundry on television and get stuck into them.

Having carried out research into the use of children in television, it became clear to the families that we interviewed, that all this reality stuff was about undermining the individual: Psychological warfare, public humiliation, etc etc.

The more the the merrier, anything to please the mob! Or is it really to please some under developed and psychologically flawed mind in the people who came up with the idea? I know it is about MONEY

Yes, you can switch off (and I certainly do), but when the stuff is on the BBC, our money is financing it!

Do you really trust these people after all the telephone scams that go on, that has never been take through any court; it should have been!
What would make you vote for Labour? 3:23pm on 01 Jun 2009 Labour, and that includes Harriet Harman and Alan Johnson are all part of the problem. I had an old wooden door on my house once; painting it to give it a new face didn't work either; the gaps got wider and wider! yes you've guessed a complete change was all that worked.

We need to reform the whole system; your subconscious minds need reprogramming:

1: Public Serive is that: serve the public not your interests. mean and do what you say.

2: Be glad you have a job; stop moaning about how much you are paid; you say that to all workers!

3: Stop treating the electorate like children, we can see through you; the spin does not work any longer.

4: Harriet, women in parliament have not stopped the boys yaboohing each other; indeed women join them! Another missed opportunity.

5. Gordon says he will have an independent review; get on with it; we want to cleanse the stables; a number of you have to go, the country cannot afford you any longer.

Those of you who have second jobs can get on with that; oh by the way, don't use the BBC as an easy opportunity; do something meaningful and try working on improving the disgusting state of our roads.

6: Remember there are some good people there.' I emailed an MP once who was not my MP with regard the vote taking away the 10p tax rate, yet I had a measured and thorough response.

Change takes courage; your education and privileged positions should have set you up for the momentous tasks ahead; go forth and change our system for the better for all. Harriet it means neither you nor Alan can lead us.

And for anyone who thinks this is hysteria the country has been asking and debating reform for years and years!

Ordinary people face trials and tribulations each day, some privileged positions are so far removed that, individuals in them, can make all the pleas possible, but if you are not suffering then it is difficult to ask others to take the same stance as as you.

MPs and some leaders (I wonder who recently) have chosen to act like celebrities or link themselves to them to gain public support; before long, like my old door you see through them!

Here's to a better future; do not take those holidays, sort the whole place out; the electorate are coming in to inspect you!

I agree with your challenge, so I like you, I am asking all parties; and those who do not belong to parties, to publish their manifestos now!

The only problem is, as I said earlier, they will say one thing and do another once they are elected. You certainly cannot trust a great number of them to stand by their word; remember the no fees for students promise... much lower paid workers than MPs are now left owing a lot of money, a number of whom are civil servants. I am not one by the way.

Sadly we get people saying they will change the world to make it a better place; but how much has really changed?

They would have us all locked up for thinking differently if they had their way.

Living in Hope; I will not be holding my breath...
Do you want a General Election? 09:25am on 22 May 2009 MPs say they will stand down if their constituents wish it; well it sounds like a stitch up because what they are really saying is "my friends back in the party office will make sure I stand again". It must be a decision made by the majority of people who live there, regardless of party, who should decide; if they don't like it, then they must go now. Do the honourable thing members!

I do wonder what planet they live on. There was one MP moaning on Five Live this morning about the atmosphere around Westmister, that some had not been seen for a while, and it is all too much to bear. No wonder governments are allowed to bully MPs.

My message in response to this whining is this: Well you are experiencing what you (MPs) have allowed past and present governments to push out to the public sector workers everyday; also do remember, most peole who work in the real world have this kind of pressure everyday; all without a gravey train. I wonder who would want to sponsr that one!

Danger: Prospective MPs may publish pledges; so did the parties in their manifestos; so beware of the goody two shoes who say that they will do this and that. You have to change the whole establsiment to allow open honest and free democracy in our country.

Begin now by calling a General election for the autumn.

I hold no party affiliations; they do not always carry out what they say. Remember Blair, etc etc... But I do vote... we must always vote..

My call is this: Parliament for the People of the People. MPs must have lived in their constituencies for a long time; no more planting in people; only one MP per family; cut the number of the MPs and make the upper house fully elected.

Britain, your time is here; change our country to make it a better place for all, and not the few. And yes, get our money back!

We managed it for the Gurkhas!
