The only way you are sacked in this government is if you criticise the PM or the "real PM". Breaking a law that you created is not seen as important enough to resign or be sacked for.

Honesty: The new battleground 3:29pm on 01 Jul 2009 To Mike Naylor - please don't leave this board. You have totally reinvigorated it and have made it the great "sport" that it was not so long ago.

I think the comments about bias and political affiliation that have been written by several posters are quite true but they also need to remember to look in the mirror.

I would welcome the figures being published because then nobody can hold back from stating and costing their policies. That we can debate the difficult decisions ahead and understand the reasoning behind different philosophies and make a polling decision based upon reasoned argument rather than tribal loyalty.

I know it will never happen because politics isnt like that as it is far easier to be cynical and negative than to put forward something positive and argue for something. So I will go back to the airy fairy dreamland of my mind and get back to work.
'Rebuilding Labour's Future' 12:47pm on 30 Jun 2009 Personally I am sick and tired of the pathetic name calling between died in the wool blues & reds both on this board and in the juvenile play ground that is the House of Commons. The facts are that the country has an enormous debt and I would like to know when anybody is going to start to tell us how it is going to be tackled and paid back.
All politicians are not telling the truth because the truth does not win votes, grand promises and "it will all be ok" platitudes do.
I have given up any thoughts of a decent retirement for myself but I do not want my children and (god forbid their children if they choose to have any) to have to be paying for this ever inflating mess. So instead of blaming Thatcher, Major, Blair or Brown come up with some proposals that can be debated and discussed. Who knows the half wits in the HofC may just read something on here that they can claim as their own and start to address the situation.
Survival but at what price? 09:43am on 07 Jun 2009 Well here we go again. The screaming harpies are saying that Nick is biased only this time that he is pro Tory rather than the usual boring repetition that he is pro Labour.

For what it is worth, here is my view. I think that Nick has a personal respect for Gordon Brown as an idividual that can come across in his blogs but I do not believe that he has a general party bias. What you all seem to forget is that the purpose of a blog is generate comment, debate and argument. As Nick consistently has several hundred comments to each entry, none of which say "oh yes, I agree totally with you Nick", don't you think he is doing it rather well?

Personally I rather enjoy reading the counter views of the blinkered dyed in the wool reds and blues.

Survival but at what price? 09:13am on 06 Jun 2009 Great to see Derek Barker back again. He always adds some spice to the rantings on this site and always makes me laugh.

Personally I see these "no policy" Tories comments quite funny. The Tories have finally learnt the lesson from 97. Do not make any solid policy announcements, make high level bland but media friendly soundbites and concentrate on sniping at the governement. Add that to an electorate that is fed up with those in power and bingo you get great election results. Its not rocket science. The only thing you need to do is question just why it took them so long to work it out.
