The Miseryside derby 01:41am on 27 Nov 2009 I work days, up in 5 hours to start another hard slog in the office.

But midnight until 2am is quiet. Hence my late hour visits!

He won a third consequetive term in June of this year and has now been in power for 7 years.

Hes done that solid a job that it isn't even news worthy nowadays. Goes to show how fickle the media can be.

1 - RVN joining Liverpool. Well that bloke will score goals wherever he goes and I'd fully expect him to bag a few at Liverpool. However, be under no illusion, as anyone who has watched La Liga for the last year would testify, RVN is not the RVN that United had - far from it.

2 - Neville baiting Liverpool. You have to hand it to him. He is easily the best wind-up artist in the Premier League. I love it when he does it, because anyone who thinks he just 'happens' to say these things without realising the offence it might cause the scousers is living on another planet. Every club needs a player like Neville to bait the club that you all hate as a fan. The problem in the lower tiers is that we get none of this baiting. I threw a sausage roll on the floor once when a Bedlington Terriers fat boy defender walked into the tunnel and the bugger picked it up, took a bite and said 'ta'. Its just not the same as a full scale riot in the premiership.

After all, the same situations applies in that theres nowt inbetween - barring Hartlepool.

Jermain Deffo 10:46am on 26 Nov 2009 Adam, are you seriously trying to say Man United were beaten tonight because of bad refereeing?

They were beaten because they were crap and, as TommyOnion said, because Ferguson committed the cardinal sin he sometimes does of completing disrespecting the opposition.

You can't hang on the potential for a penalty when you have world class players that you've not put on the pitch because you're complacent. It is the managers fault that United lost last night.

I find it rather amusing to read Ferguson saying he isn't fazed by the loss of their record this morning.

Yeah right.

It's not a disaster because I fully expect them to go to Wolfsburg and get at least a draw. In fact Boy Wonder will probably put on a masterclass and score a hat trick. Thats what United do better than anyone else in the world. When the chips are down, they do what is needed.

Unlike Liverpool. See, what they need to do is sack their manager. His luck is being exposed and his total and utter lack of credibility is there for all to see.

Chelsea are going to romp the league now and after an away win in Porto (which is very hard to do) I expect them to stand a very good chance of a Premiership and European double now.

I think they'll walk all over Arsenal this weekend. Too strong. Sorry Gooners.

A shred of comfort for the United fans in here has got to be that jamie Carragher once more demonstrated why he chose football instead of philosophy, politics, nuclear physics or the medical profession.

How he came to the conclusion that "all we need is a win to regain our confidence" is beyond me.

Amazingly astute observation and my choice for numpty statement of the season so far.

We're back. :)

Oh, and Spennymoor went out to Bishop Auckland in a major upset. I can imagine their fans saying they'll be able to concentrate on the league tonight but I smell the sweet aroma of a sticky patch coming their way. From what I've heard they were pants tonight.

p.s. despite not going to the match tonight, I can tell you without any doubt whatsoever that Bay would have beaten Besiktas. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. Fergie - are you finally losting the plot or what?

Agree entirely. Ferguson has to stop making excuses for these supposed youngsters and start acknowledging what he knows but isn't going to say in public.

Welbeck - isn't going to make it at the top level.
Gibson - read above.
Anderson - time to sell. Too hot and cold with the emphasis on cold.
Macheda - very talented, no doubt, but no service at all tonight.
Obertan - the potential to be world class, but like Ronaldo in the early years his final ball needs a lot of work.
Rafael - if he is going to be what he could be, he needs more games.

Then..

Owen - well this just isn't quite working out as many expected, is it. He looks like any other average crappy mid-table striker to me.

Lets face it, Fergie dropped a major clanger tonight and he should have the guts to own up to it. No way on this earth should he have missed the opportunity to finish the group off tonight. The big boys should have played.

I am one of the mans biggest fans as far as tactics and sheer will to win are concerned, but boy did he mess it up big style tonight.

Rustu played a blinder for the 3 minutes at the end that he needed to and perhaps his opposite number, Fletcher, has realised hes in the wrong part of the field and should swap gloves for an attacking role. He almost bagged that one, didn't he!

To give away their long lasting home record tonight was shameful, not to mention unnecessary. Besiktas are crap. Look at the Turkish table if you're a Man United fan and don't just think you lost to the champions of Turkey - because that isn't how they've been playing this season and they're in serious trouble.

I think tonights result is one of the most embarassing and avoidable in SAF's whole career.

He should smack himself over the head with that vintage bottle tonight instead of drinking it.

But I do think Obertan is going to be a name with a big price tag for Madrid in 2-3 years time.

Clearly, all of them, though it is fair to say he'll claim that Ferguson influenced them all.

As for Defoe, over-rated.
