Terry Wogan card 11:11pm on 15 Dec 2009 Dear Terry, Mornings will never be the same again without your wonderful morning show, warmth, good music, bonhomie, gastronomy, culture and above all a most humourous take on life. Above all, I will miss having to turn the radio down slightly and adjusting my composure somewhat, as I go through the security gates at work whilst listening to Janet & John! We will miss you - to describe you in three words - Broadcasting's John Betjeman. We look forward to your new show in February. Ros and Philip Ebbrell x

What was that about teapots and kettles? 1:23pm on 21 Nov 2009 I rather have a soft spot for the idea that dinosaurs were the works of the devil who put them in the ground to confuse the devout. Almost like those people waiting for the end of times, rapture or the 12th Iman.

Sorry, I can cite the place where Robert Graves writes about the number of the beast. Suspect it is in his book, The White Goddess.

I suspect that non-entities were picked as it will make the populace feel they are not being threatened, whereas big names will do that. Of course, after a few years, they will not be notice the creeping Europeanisation. So when the national electorate have tired say of Sarkosky or Merkel or (Lord forbid) Gordon Brown, they can claim that Europe needs a strong, global presence, which they can offer.

Most orthodoxys have their own in-built destruction as they fail to adapt over the period and have to have bouts of re-adjustment e.g. Reformation and usually with lots of blood.
What was that about teapots and kettles? 9:38pm on 20 Nov 2009 Any one else noticed that the American defence is being used to justify, the EU appointees? If an elected American Leader can appoint his cabinet, then so can we (EU).

Another was the comment from a Government minster, Benn, I think, not saying it was caused by global warming, but severe weather patterns. Perhaps we should have a closer look at why flood and sea defences are not working. Not sure when there were bad flooding in the west country, it was found that money had been diverted into other areas.

And finally, wonder if we can get a law passed, so all government can tell the truth?

What was that about teapots and kettles? 10:02pm on 12 Nov 2009 I was listening to Radio 4 PM on my way home from work. Ye, finally got a job after 10 months of unemployment. Sorry, I now watching as regularly as did before.

What interested me was that Jacqui Janes commented that she had to buy kit for her son to go out to Afghanistan? Does any one know what this was? And why?

The problem is that the armed forces have been underfunded for the period that GB has been chancellor and PM. I am also interested that there are a lot of commonwealth people serving in the army or so it has been suggested. Not sure if South Africa has said their citizens can not serve in our armed forces. It could be the case, that we have contract our defence out.

Now we discovered that MOD civil servants are getting bonuses. Some one somewhere is not doing their job and should not be any bonus.

Much worse than anybody expected 10:24am on 25 Oct 2009 It seems that Labour is trying to keep the attack on the Tories with do nothing in the financial crisis last year. I don't think they could do much as they didn't know the full picture of the state of the Government's problems. So DC & BG couldn't really making a response as they weren't in position of power.

I would like to know where all this money, the Govt. has pumped into the system and if we are shareholders of the banks can't we ask for a dividend? This would reduce the pot of cash available for any bonuses?

On the immigration thread? In the past overpopulation has led to more of people and led to conflict, amongst other things. In the past, this has led to migration from these shores to overseas colonies and the development of Empire. It was repeated within a European and America context over the last few centuries.

The UK is facing an increase in population and the question is how to manage this?

In my experience I have noticed the rise in South African white immigrants in the early part of the decade, but no one has mentioned them? As they seem to be escaping the mess of Zimbabwe and expecting it to happen in South Africa.

I do feel that this Government is trying to wreck the country, whether this is intentional or just poor management. So there is no other option to become part of a EUSSR. A classic example is the Royal Mail fiasco.

As a thought. Can you be a racist against the EU?

Back to the economy, via the Royal Mail. If this is an attempt to privatise the Royal Mail pension deficit; what about about the UK pension deficit? BG raising of the pension age, I suspect that if I am lucky, I will be working to 70 for my pension and if unlucky, there won't be a state pension for me.
Expenses and unemployment 7:19pm on 19 Oct 2009 Mornington Crescent with Biscuits? I start with a Bourbon. Surely GB should know what biscuit he liked? 12 times the question was asked.

Climate change has always been happening, remember those viking farms in Greenland and their discovery of Vinland (America) in the 11th century or the mini ice age of the mid 17th century. If the climate change is occurring then it more likely due to overpopulation? Some times I think we are repeating the script for Whoops Apocalypse from the early 80s.

Just feel that all this fear of climate change is our hour of hate? Are we to see scientist Bronsky on screen to shout or laugh at?

It all seems very Mathlusian to me. The problem is going to be who is controlling the world's resources, as China has been busy buying up Africa. Europe could be having problems, unless it wants to take Russia leadership in this matter.
...gone 4:55pm on 16 Oct 2009 Just read the Beeb report of the MPs whinging about the reduction of space in their 'cafe', so that the capacity for strangers - i.e. the public can be increased and thereby increase turnover for said cafe.

...gone 09:28am on 16 Oct 2009 We should be aiming our ire for the junior defence minster Lord Raiston (?). Who was so shoddy on R4 PM programme, it was incedulous. If you have high blood pressure, I suggest you don't use listen again.

Here is some one who has been in the MOD since 2005 and has just found out that the procurement progress is 'not fit for purposes'. He has proved incompetent, not only in his office and he has let down not only the soldiers in the armed forces, but the whole country.

The FT had a rather good graph showing how defence spending is not going to be able to match the commitments that the Government's planning. Either they are going to have to find some money from somewhere to pay for this difference. In an uncertain world, this lack of resources is going to cause problems not now, maybe not tomorrow, but in the future.

All Parties are having problems with their MPs, but at least some of the leaders are trying to do something about it. Still don't why the voters have to pay gardening costs for MPs, even a £1000 a year?
...gone 9:31pm on 15 Oct 2009 There is a suggestion that if there is an early election, that the MPs will be given a 'Get out of Gaol' card and not be chased up for the cash.

It would appear that there is going to be an election before Christmas. The Defence utter debacle (WW1 shell crisis). Eddie Mair was in great form on PM interviewing Lord Raston (? apologies) as he was blaming the system. Even though he had been in charge for 4 years.

Secondly, the paralysation of Parliament with the expenses handle. We could see a genuine backbencher revolt, but for the wrong reasons to save their skins.

Hmmm. Wonder if Gordon's health is going to stand the strain?
