Owen worth Man Utd gamble 11:34pm on 05 Jul 2009 Years ago I was one who thought SAF had had his day & that it was time for him to go, I'm now firmly in the SAF is god camp & will not 2nd guess anything the great man does, I dont think we'll win anything this season mind, but every team needs a season or 2 to regroup, regenerate & with Man C & Real M willing to pay way over the odds for every player who thinks they have an oz of talent I'm happy for SAF to keep his powder dry & wait for the right player/players to come into his crosshairs before spending some of that 80m.
All the best to Owen but no doubts about it this is his last chance to win silverware & if he cant make it a MAN U he'll never make it anywhere.

Man Utd are worthy champions 01:12am on 18 May 2009 1 game to go to crown what will be another stella season for the red devils. almost time to be thinking about next season & the 70,000,000 pound question will he or wont he? I think he will go & with it united's chance to win that record breaking title,well at least next season anyway. Great teams need great players & MUFC have them in abundance but I believe he is the greatest of them all (no not of all time just the last couple of seasons)& I don't think he's replaceable, so I'm celebrating long & hard savouring the moment cos it could be a little bit before we celebrate like this again
Football puts boot into booze 01:09am on 14 May 2009 Hmmm not allowed to drink, not allowed to smoke, cant go out, confined to home only allowed out to train & play having to act as role models because parents are too lazy to do it themselves.
Wake up & smell the roses people your living in a fantasy world, instead of concentrating on the 1 or 2 bad apples, where are all the stories on the other 6-700 professional premiership players who each week train, play & then go home to the wife & kids & give there time to charity. You wont read those stories becasue they dont sell papers, we want train wrecks, we need train wrecks to feel better about ourselves, do we really want one dimensional preprogrammed colourless robots? I for one do not.
Brave Shearer gives Newcastle hope 02:42am on 13 May 2009 Shearer has always been happy to be the big fish in a little pond without the ambition or guts to aim higher & in Newcastle in found a club & fanbase who have elevated him to near godlike status. A quick look at the stats would show in his last 222 games for the toons he only scored 86 or once every 232min, hardly godlike.
It's also been said when he took over he was in a win win situation stay up he's the messiah go down & it was mission impossible, exactly the sort of odds that would appeal to Shearer.
Newcastle will stay up this year not because he is the messiah but becasue there will be 3 teams worse than them, they will get no where near the magical 40pts normally deemed necessary to avoid relegation.
Bitter recriminations at the Bridge 02:32am on 08 May 2009 If technology is the answer I'd hate to see the question, all it would do is ruin what is one of the fastest most free flowing games in the world, even with 20 replays from 15 different angles evidence can be inconclusive & all it does is stop the game for a couple of minutes each time, just give the refs the protection they deserve & make them accountable with post match reviews
Bitter recriminations at the Bridge 00:21am on 08 May 2009 As a mere antipodean maybe we're made of sterner stuff, but some of the antics both during & after the game directed towards the ref I thought was disgusting & I wouldn't accept that sort of behaviour from a 5 yr old let alone fully grown men, if they'd been playing union or league half the players on the field would be warming the bench for the next 2-3 months. FIFA have to get tough & protect the refs regardless of their performance, players should not be able to touch the ref let alone surround him & abuse him. RESPECT my ass, the sooner FIFA get some teeth & get tough on these primadonas with suspensions & fines related to their salary the sooner we'll stomp out the farcical nonsense we witnessed last night
