But the one unanimous point is, these so-called minnows should be given more exposure to international football, if any improvement is to be expected...

Throwing them into a major tournament's qualifying round once in a few years is not doing any good... Even if they do well occasionally, they would suffer to maintain consistency...

Kenya were semi-finalists in the 2003 Cricket world cup, purely on cricketing merit, but where are they now?

Ronaldinho can not only make it to the Milan Starting XI, but also make a comeback to the Brazil national team, seeing that Dunga is willing to accomodate him, if fit...Kaka has unknowingly thrown him a chance to resurrect his playing career, whether he grabs it or not remains to be seen...

Thanks for the corrections... I went with the popular version of the name, not the correct one. My apologies....

But you missed my point entirely... What I meant to say is:

His business is not dependent on F1(although it surely benefits from it), so he does not need to justify his presence in F1 in terms of financial gain/viability to stay there...

On a separate note, do you believe he spends company money on his personal interests?

How do you justify spending company money to buy two F1 teams, just as a marketing gimmick? I guess you can put up hoardings all over the globe for that much money!!! Even in F1 terms, you can have the same amount of publicity with far less investment. Ever heard of sponsorship?
Hamilton releases the pressure 06:49am on 09 Jun 2009 Judging somebody on talent is completely based on individual opinion. And you know what they say about opinion, Opinions are like _______, everybody has one!!

Jenson completely deserves what he's getting now, and whoever says that he was paid money to stick with Honda, I don't think Hamilton or anybody else is taking a pay cut for driving an uncompetitive car, are they?

To everybody who say Jenson is just a benefactor of Ross Brawn's genius, I guess that puts Michael Schumacher in the same box then, according to you? I think not...You can build the greatest machines in the world, but they'd be useless if nobody knew how to make it work...Everybody has a part to play. If it was just about the machine, all teammates would perform identically, won't they?

As for Lewis, this year is actually good for him in the long term, because it's giving him an invaluable lesson in adversity. You can appreciate the highs better when you have seen the lows...

And for people slating Ross for having the benefit of extra planning and execution for his 2009 programme, answer one question...

If you run out of ammunition in a battle, what would you do? Retreat and prepare to fight another day, or just stand there and do nothing?
He had the luxury to plan ahead, because he had no ammo to continue the fight at that point...

Dieter Mateschitz has earned his billions in a profession unrelated to Motorsport (financially at least), and doesn't need to justify spending his money to anyone... That't the most ideal place to be in financially, as he won't have any regulatory questions to answer...

As Mike Lawrence would say, Dieter need not shift another can of Red Bull from store shelves to justify his stay in F1!! His only motivation is the enjoyment, and he can get it anywhere he sees fit, F1 or a rival FOTA series...

No disrespect to anybody, but all the new teams trying to come in are a bunch of either nobody's or has-been's, and they would be hard pressed to attract any serious sponsorship money...

Sponsors throw money at big teams because they make money from the publicity they get...

Just as an example... AIG, Manchester United's shirt sponsor, went from #74 to #30 on the most recognized global brands list, by just paying MANU 14 million pounds/year during their 4-year association with the team.

Would they throw the same kind of money at a B-grade team that would struggle to find any fans outside their town?

NO, because they won't get the same Return-On-Investment...

That is all business is all about.. ROI...Ask Bernie, he is trying to maximize his ROI in F1, nothing else....

It's the usual good cop, bad cop routine....

Max has spewed his venom, and now its Bernie turn. I bet we'll have a statement form Bernie within a couple of days, saying how he is doing his best to keep FOTA from leaving....

Utterly laughable, how people get drawn in so easily. Throw them a crumb, and they'll jump like a pack of rabid canines...

And whoever(kingwill01) here says that cost-cutting would make F1 more relevant to the public, is just blind...

How do you identify with a team that you've never heard of?

And by the way, if you've lost all perspective, it would serve you well to remember that the cost-cap applies only to the teams, not Bernie and Max. So they'll still charge you the same exorbitant prices for everything, and if you think it's relevant to spend a small fortune(in today's times) to go see someone who you didn't even know existed a month ago, you're part of a very small minority Sir...
