Hospital car park charges - do they make you sick? 10:22pm on 06 May 2009 I agree partly with TANSKY, when he or she wrote about treatment being free, BUT does TANSKY know that the car park charges DO NOT GO TO THE HOSPITALS!!! Well they don't in our Hospital!. I DO STRONGLY DISAGREE WITH BLOG NUMBER 152 by TANSKY. FIRSTLY WE ARE NOT A LOT OF WINGERS. Not once has anyone said that the NHS is no good. Yes, we do have the best Health service in the world - & it is overstretched. There are anomolies. But when a person is seriously ill, needing regular Hospital treatment or Hospitalised, family members need to visit. This is usually when financies get stretched. If a family member is sent to prison the authorities accept that a wage is missing, hence visitors parking is free. Why it should be free to park at a prison, and have to pay at a hospital, when people are at thier lowest ebb, is beyond me.
Hospital car park charges - do they make you sick? 9:25pm on 06 May 2009 I was in City hospital for sixteen months and during that time my husband visited me at least once a day, sometimes twice. My three children were coming directly from work incuring more expense. At this time, luckily ,car parking charges were £1 per visit. With my husband collecting my parents, who live seventeen miles from the hospital, I hate to think how much petrol was used. Soon after I left the hospital, the car park charges were changed to £3 for twenty minutes(after complaints it was changed to £3 for the first hour and £10 for the whole day.
I am now Vice Chair of our local Disability group, & although we have good relations with both the City hospital they have not been able to shift on prices. They say they have no control over car parking charges. However; although our local town hospital belongs to the same Trust we have been given free disabled car parking after negotiations with the Executive's.
