Any Journo of calibre would at least have mused on the one obvious question not asked. Was this the price of Labour renaging on it's promice to hold a referendum - TB for El Presindente?

Or pehaps Millbank have asked you to keep mum on that one?
BNP's 'hang generals' just 'humour' 10:00pm on 20 Oct 2009 As Ian Dale has pointed out the BNP are not the only socialists using WWII iconography. Good 'Ole Labour used a Spitfire too. The cheek of it! If Labour had had it's way in the '30's the Spitfire would never have been built (for fear of it being used against the Soviets).

And who was it that went on strike in 1944? Yes, those lions of the Left, the miners.

Plus if the BNP have no right to a place on QT then why do Respect & others get so many chances? They are all, after all, vile socialist, racists like the BNP, only with fewer votes.

Is primary education threatened by authoritarianism? 5:13pm on 17 Oct 2009 Funny, isn't it, that now the arch meddlers are on their way out the cry for less meddling ratchets up?

If the state (i.e you and I) pays for education then the state has every right to ensure it is getting value for money. 'Value for money' in this context means the kids get educated - not merely taught how to pass exams nor stuffed with PC versions of history nor have science replaced by 'Watermelon' agitprop.

By all means take politics out of education. Perhaps we could start with the educationalists, trainers and teachers before we take away the taxpayers' right to demand quality services for ever increasing taxes?
Map of the Week: Forgotten white working classes 11:43pm on 14 Oct 2009 This is a complicated subject but the root of the problem is the Welfare State and the woefully incompetant social engineering of the socialists.

Whilst most of us will have benefited in some way from the Welfare State for far too many it has become a millstone that has dragged them from the Working Class to the Under Class.

If you allow people to believe that no matter how indolent they are they will always be paid then naturally they will take the dole and not bother to work. To them it is a no-brainer. Why wear yourself out when you can get nearly the same, or often more, by not working? In fact in some cases getting work reduces the income available so who can blame them. What would those on this board who sneer at the 'scoungers' do? Would you feed your kids on the dole or let them go hungry on the minimum wage?

The minimum wage itself is a handicap to employment of the Working Classes. Labour always trumpets this as one of the finest achivements since the creation of the Welfare State itself. But it is hiding the true damage that this EU harmonisation project has wrought. Most businesses/industries that survived by paying low wages cannot afford to pay the minimum wage so they hire in companies from other EU states or from outside of the EU to provide workers who are not covered by the legislation. So those people who would once have toiled in the fields or flipped burgers get replaced by gang mastered labour. In some cases, as seen on the BBC itself, these gang masters are little more than modern-day slavers. All of a sudden the sort of jobs that those who do not want to sit about all day could do are no longer within their grasp. And the Government wonders why they resent immigrants!

Of course legal immigrants have to pay taxes so they eventually get priced out too. And it doesn't stop there. If you are a Polish plumber you can afford to charge half the price of a married with kids British plumber because your costs are so much lower. If you share a house with 5 other plumbers you are quids in. So now even the skilled British worker is under-cut. The government even introuced a stealth tax (IR35) to reduce the number of British freelance IT workers and then claimed a shortage of skills and created FTVs - special visas for foriegn workers to undercut those that survived this regressive and unfair tax.

So how did Gorden fill all the 'vacancies' that were left? He took away the border controls and deliberately allowed unrestrained illegal immigration. Simples. 'Sod social cohesion let's just make it look good.' Nice one Gordon.
The Big Broadband match: A poor result? 7:52pm on 12 Oct 2009 I listened to the match (and what a waste of time that was) on Radio 5 Live streamed to my work PC by the good old BBC. The stream was constantly being interupted by garbled noise (Graham Taylor) and often blittered itself unintelligiable. But I got the gist of it. England were dire.

If the BBC is incapable of streaming radio adequately then it's not suprising that it's correspondants are worried at the thought of the competition managing intelligable live tv!

Graylings use of this story is no different to the BBC's use of 'greater truths' surely?

Addicted to methadone? 6:40pm on 12 Oct 2009 One of the most harmful aspects of drug taking is the rubbish that is mixed into drugs to maximise the profits of the criminals that sell them. These chemicals are often more harmful than heroin. The rich can afford to buy the more expensive 'cleaner' drugs whilst the poor have to put up with the poisoned variety. It was ever thus - '10 Ace' will always kill you quicker than a bottle of 'Bolly'.
But, now we have troops in Afganistan, why don't we kill two birds with one stone? We move into the Talibans poppy fields and offer protection and a better, safer market for the growers. We then market the drug as either morphiates or as pure heroin at knock down prices - selling only the purest strain we can achieve.
In the stoke of a fantatists keyboard we will have
1. Removed a huge source of income from the Islamo-fascists.
2. Stolen the market from the drug barons.
3. Provided a better quality drug to users who, if the want it, have to agree to a programme of 'weaning' off it.
Considering the millions wasted on the ineffective fantasy solutions of the cuddly-bunny brigade surely it's worth a try?

Do you not remember all those crime statistics this venal, corrupt and incompetent government foisted on you as a press release? Well, these figures are the same. They are meant to show how wonderful Gordon and his Hoons are; not show us, the tax payer, what the true position is.

Another memory jog. How about the 2001 'Rough Sleepers Survey' designed as an exercise in showing what a good job Tony was doing. The survey showed a massive drop in the numbers of rough sleepers and the BBC happily relayed the message. Bless 'em. Except it then transpired that the survey only counted people who were asleep when counted and not those who were woken up by the researchers blundering through the squats ...
