Hughes harshly treated by Man City 5:25pm on 20 Dec 2009 Harshly treated? The arrogance shown by Hughes as Man City went after Lescott (remember his dismissive, disrespectful treatment of David Moyes?), not to mention his unwillingness to criticise Adebayor after the foolish striker's hysterics during the Arsenal game, and some of the childish comments Hughes made about the Tevez transfer means that this hugely overrated - in his own mind too - and smug individual got exactly what was coming to him.

No sympathy whatsoever. Just because he's 'only' had 17 games in the Prem doesn't mean that's an excuse for assembling a shambolic defence that's allowed, amongst others, Burnley and Sunderland to score 3 goals each in Manchester. Au revoir, Sparky - see you at Hull, or somewhere similar.
Banks must invest trust in Scottish clubs 10:29am on 31 Oct 2009 I agree with 2's first comment - the banks 'should' do a lot of things, but why should they invest in something financially unviable, like Scottish football? It's the stance of the Aberdeen football fan with Stewart Milne, actually. "Hey, he's got money, why won't he chuck a few million into a deep dark profit free hole and write it off?" Because why should he write off substantial chunks of money?

The North Atlantic gimmick is interesting but expensive (how many United fans would pay to regularly fly to Denmark for 90 minutes of football, for example)? The idea is right though in that the SFA and SPL need to start 'out the box' thinking about the future of Scottish football.

As an Arab, I also don't get the specifics of the United story - it all sounds very general, and hasn't been covered in either of the Dundee papers. Is Levein saying we're struggling to pay the wages? Doesn't sound that way as we're within the (presumably reduced) wages budget. Anyway, he could have helped out there by picking a team that could have beaten St Johnstone on Tuesday!!

I'm not convinced Del Potro is an undoubted #1 though. There doesn't seem to be a huge variation to his game, and if that incredible cannon of a forearm is a bit off, he'll struggle.

Quibbles aside, outstanding performance and delighted to see the real Federer stand up again with the petulant, bad tempered and obnoxious behaviour he's always capable of.
Adebayor deserves all he gets 1:27pm on 14 Sep 2009 I'm dying to hear uber-chump Garry Cook's thoughts on the matter, to be honest.

Listening to the man who proudly claimed that Shinawatra's background was irrelevant as "he's a great guy to play golf with" and claimed Kaka "bottled" a move to playing alongside Craig Bellamy, Micah Richards and Nigel de Jong will provide this affair with the comic enlightenment needed.

Agree that the Arsenal fans yelling abuse at Adebayor all game need identified (shades of the Sol Campbell situation) and banned, but anyone trying to defend Adebayor's actions is deluded. You don't see raked faces in rugby nowadays, and I've never seen such a thoughtless and dimwitted goal celebration in my life.

Adebayor is a mercenary footballer who offered himself to Barca and Milan after one decent season at Arsenal and the Siteh fans shouldn't kid themselves where his loyalties lie (100% with himself).
Manchester City making waves 11:30pm on 24 Aug 2009 People are getting unreasonably excited.

Sylvinho? A bench warmer at the Nou Camp.
Toure? Left Arsenal in the huff and often benched due to his performances dropping steadily over two years.
Lescott? £22m? Absolutely not.
Barry? The kind of player Barcelona, Man Utd or Milan would sweat about missing out on? Nope.
Adebayor? Moody, unreliable and inconsistent player. Any Arsenal fan upset they lost him? Not a soul.
Tevez? 5 Premiership goals last season? Moody player, badly lacking composure in front of goal.
For last season, Wayne Bridge was a bench warmer at Chelsea and Robinho - lest ye forget - was not an integral part of the Madrid team. As for Bellamy, well, more than enough said.

All this ridiculous hype on Man City - let's see them play the big four and then judge if the highest paid group of subs in world football were misjudged by previous managers or are actually fit to dine at the top table.

I predict they'll finish 7th this season.
Getting away with it 11:35pm on 12 Jul 2009 Tremendous day's cricket with the only sour note being the disgraceful sending on of the physio and 12th man twice - how inept was that? Strauss showcased his lack of international batting and captaincy skills during this test, but that was the cherry on the cake. Pitiful.

Anyone think England could do with Bell opening instead of Cook? I do! And make KP bat three, not four too. Swann out for Onions or, god forbid, Harmison too. While we can talk up the positives of Harmison, really, his 'resurrection' is a damning indictment on the state of English cricket. The biggest wimp and whiner in cricket getting a call up due to a lack of strike bowlers says a lot.
Lions ratings: third Test 09:58am on 05 Jul 2009 Thrilling to read SuperGedwards spamming the same comment across the boards, truly thrilling. Shane Williams managed the impossible of scoring two tries but being mediocre in every other facet of the game - accept it, he's past it.

If this pack had started the first game, we'd have won the first game;

Jenkins, Rees / Ford, Murray, Hines, Shaw, Croft, Heaslip, M Williams.

As it was, the pack selection in the first game cost us the series as we were still experimenting come the second test. People are being very positive about this tour - not getting it myself. The pre Test games were poor, we were pumped for an hour of the first test and choked horribly with 15 minutes to go at the end of the second. End of the day, these are the only two tests that count.

Roll on the next season . . . Looking forward to the Tri Nations too.

Your questions for Martyn Williams 1:08pm on 02 Jul 2009 BigBliksem - living in one of several London areas currently blighted by an over abundance of saffers, I can confirm that sportsmanship and humility are still blazingly obvious areas that South Africans need to put a lot of work into. That and spelling. Perseption??!

Looking forward to the Tri Nations, will be very interesting to focus on the famed manners of oooh let's say Bakkies Botha when the whistle blows on a loss.
