Bloodgate brings Deano down 1:26pm on 19 Aug 2009 This was well-thought out, organised and strategic cheating. He's lucky to have got only 3 years. Sounds like it's endemic in the English Premiership.

In saying that, it's also time they sorted out the front-row rule. There's too much leeway in the current rules.
Britons face familiar challenge 12:45pm on 16 Jul 2009 As part of the Good Friday Agreement that the British government signed up to, the concept of self-determination was furthered and enshrined in law in Northern Ireland. Let's see what Wikipedia (not fool-proof I admit, however) defines self-determination as:

Self-determination is defined as free choice of ones own acts without external compulsion; and especially as the freedom of the people of a given territory to determine their own political status or independence from their current state. In other words, it is the right of the people of a certain nation to decide how they want to be governed without the influence of any other country.

If Rory claimed to be British then this wish would have to be respected by Irish people. However, he doesn't claim to be British. He holds an Irish passport. He uses that passport for international travel. He claims that he is Irish. Rory McIlroy is Irish.

Might be hard for some people to accept I suppose.

Anybody who would write this sentence knows very little about the game of golf.
On the couch with Padraig Harrington 11:36am on 15 Jul 2009 I can't see Pádraig winning a major this year, obviously. Hopefully we'll see a gradual improvement in his driving through the season and he'll come back complete with better putting. Next year could be very interesting if this happens, coupled with Tiger being there and some young uns coming through - Kim, McIlroy, Glover, etc.

It would be spiffing if people would stop talking about what a beautiful golfer Garcia is and how much better than Pádraig he is. He's not in Harrington's league when it comes to strategy, mental strength, or indeed cojones.
Will the Lions roar again in future? 2:00pm on 08 Jul 2009 I think Ian McGeechan is such a fabulous leader in many ways. Not least his grace in defeat and his humility in victory. He was wonderfully mirrored by O'Connell, a super match-up.

Anybody got any idears on the first 15 for Oz? Here's a starting point and it ain't looking too bad. There should be 4/5 breakthroughs between now and then, granted.

Final trial for Lions Test contenders 4:17pm on 12 Jun 2009 Those folks, including the author, questioning POC's performances so far are off the mark in my opinion. He's the Lion's top ball carrier and takes on an awful lot of work to make time and space for those outside him. A lot of work that the rest of the locks, AWJ aside, are incapable of doing. His selection is a given, not because of his captaincy, but because he is the best 2nd rower. No question.
Lions winners and losers 11:26am on 22 Apr 2009 Alan Quinlan is a proven performer. He's a double Heineken European Cup winner with Munster and has played on the biggest stage in the World Cup. Quit your moaning about Croft - he's unproven, he's won nothing and he doesn't deserve to be picked based on games against France and Scotland.

Your pathetic insinuation that Quinlan has been brought because he has a sense of humour is pretty pathetic.
