Weighing up Button's McLaren move 7:39pm on 22 Nov 2009 I would like to see Kovalainen get another chance. In qualifying he was mostly better than Hamilton, if you take fuel loads into account (perhaps that's why McLaren had to get rid of him = he would have beaten Hamilton every Saturday and that would not have looked good). In races, especially in the KERS year, Kovalainen admittedly did not shine at McLaren. Seemed to have problesm with tyres a lot + we'll never know how much of his poor race day performances were due to McLaren favouring Hamilton all the way. I'd welcome a return to Renault to prove his worth - remember Heikki had a good second half of season with Renault in his debut year.

F1 in Helsinki? Population of 500.000 is not enough year in year out, especially as there are no other big cities nearby (the Finnish national football team often attracts less than 10.000 spectators). Despite all the motor racing success the Finns have had, Finland (population 5 million) is lucky to have a Rally race there.

Bernard: true and perhaps that's yet another reason why Schumi worked hard to get the team behind Massa instead of Kimi; while Massa adored Schumi, Kimi couldn't care less and this upset him.
Man City will regret lack of ambition 1:24pm on 22 Nov 2009 One can defend Liverpool by noting the injuries, but then again you could also criticize them for lack of depth = Rafa's team building. Even Birmingham are coping - on their own level - with an injury crisis, surely Liverpool should too?
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 12:59pm on 22 Nov 2009 Schumi, no doubt, played a big role in swaying Ferrari's support to Massa instead of Kimi. Schumi calls Massa his younger brother (poor forgotten Ralf). Perhaps it's no coincidence that Schumi will be consentrating on Ferrari's road cars now that Fernando Santander, sorry, Fernando Alonso is coming to Maranello.
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 12:50pm on 22 Nov 2009 Carlonso, now that you said it, it's obvious that it is indeed the ice cream that is to blame! However, I would still defend Kimi, for he didn't have time to go out and buy it. The ice cream had to have been inside Ferrari's paddock. My guess would be that Santander donated a freezer full of ice cream to Ferrari as they were already conspiring to get Kimi's seat to Alonso, who of course knew nothing of this plan himself...

But seriously, you are right that Kimi's weakness at Ferrari was to not be able to rally - pun intended - the team aroud him. Had Ferrari fully supported Kimi in 2008, instead of Massa, perhaps he'd be double world champion.
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 8:37pm on 21 Nov 2009 Carlonso and Bernard: I think that Berndard is spot on in taking Kimi's cool, make that ice cold, character in consideration when thinking about his alleged lost of motivation and inconsistency. When McLaren struggled in the first part of last season, nobody was questioning Hamilton's motivation nor complaining that he is inconsistent. Everybody agreed that his poor showings were mostly due to McLaren's failure to interpret the new rules as the likes of Brawn had (double diffuser). But seeing Kimi eat an ice cream is made out to be a sign of him losing interest in F1. Hello! Kimi never lost interest/motivation, and it was Ferrari that was inconsistent, not the driver. Trying to make assumptions on Kimi's motivation by his behavior is to ignore the fact that he has been and behaved in exactly the same manner, win or lose, ever since he started in F1. The boy was sleeping 1/2h before his F1 debut race - that's how cool and composed he is!

Anyone claiming that Kimi is Only interested in money should consider that he could have made millions more (Ferrari payment + new salary + sponsor deals) by driving for any team on the grid. As it is and as it has been pointed out above, the man is more interested in winning than making a few extra millions. Kimi is also a man who knows his worth and rights (like the right to do whatever he likes in his spare time); McLaren could not offer him a suitable contract so he walks away holding his head high and looking for the next adventure. Remarkable. Admirable.

Finally, Carlonso, is it not true that Kimi beat Massa in qualifyings (sth like 5 to 4) before Massa's accident? Massa is a very good driver (or was, remains to be seen if he still is or will he be like J.J. Lehto whou could never come back to his best after an accident), but no F1 expert in their right mind would ever put him in the same league as Kimi (apart from the Brazilian media, of course, but they still insist the Nelsinho is great too...).
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 2:28pm on 19 Nov 2009 "Kimi was gifted in that last race". Since when was a season 1 race long? The last race was of no more value (points-wise) than all the rest. To undermine Kimi's WC of 07 because of that shows lack of understanding. You could pick any number of races throughout the season and point to this driver or that having had good or bad luck. At the end of a long season Kimi had most points = deserved champion!
Weighing up Button's McLaren move 7:26pm on 18 Nov 2009 16 - If Kimi was greedy, he would have taken Ferrari's millions + a few extra millions from any team on the grid willing to pay him. As it is, he has earned enough money in his career to just race for money. He wants to win. Was ousted from Ferrari by Santander. Couldn't agree a deal with McLaren. So better not race at all. Simple.

Kimi's a legend.

Hope Kimi comes back after 1 year (back to Ferrari to replace Massa?). Until he does, F1 is much poorer.
Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 01:41am on 01 Oct 2009 64 - Saints19 - Well, I went and checked some stats as you asked. In 2009, until Massa's accident, Kimi had outqualified Massa 5 to 4. Perhaps you should check some stats yourself, eh?

Also, Luca Montezemolo himself said that Massa "deserves" to have another chance in the car because he got injured. But I guess it's more about money, as someone suggested, and not another emotional decision like Badoer was. I was wrong. And I do rate Massa, too, by the way, I just think Kimi is much better.
Winners and boozers 9:00pm on 30 Sep 2009 ATTEMPTS!? How dare you! In any case, relax, me and my wit (or lack thereof) pose very little threat to humanity, either here in the BBC cyberspace or in the real world.

JDR, you lost me a bit with your meal and shirt analogy, but if I don't find a meal or a shirt of my liking at a given establishment, I walk to another one in the hope of finding what I want. I don't go on moaning about the quality of that shop/restaurant, I simply accept that people have different tastes and different sizes - not everything have to fit me and my taste. Indeed, it would be scary if everybody were my size and shared my sense of humor - especially as I'm so rubbish at attempting wit.
