How to track swine flu 05:16am on 10 Jul 2009 It was three now it's fourteen dead. Seems to me that there is a tendency to hide the true nature of this pandemic. All I need to know as a person who has underlying health problems whatever that's supposed to mean is this... should I take the Tamiflu now or wait until I get the swine flu. I read somewhere that a child that died had epilepsy. I have heart problems and I'm a senior so just where does that put me. Apart from being uninformed that is.

Tax cut benefit? One the reduction of VAT by 2,5% however the loss of revenue has resulted in other stealth tax increases to make up for it. So I suppose you're right.
A dramatic end to a week in Yarl's Wood 07:17am on 21 Jun 2009 I just came through Northern France en route by road to the UK. There were many of these illegals waiting at truck stops trying to get a ride. I have no objections to hard working folk. But they must apply apply for a permit to enter the UK before they leave as is applied by many countries. I have a five year residence card where I now live and I followed the rules of entry. I am still not allowed to work without a permit. Malawi is a very poor country and if a person has skills better they stay home and help their fellow countrymen. Perhaps financial sponsorship by those interested in helping these illegals may help.

News to me your stuff about Malawi. Formally Nyasaland there was not and is no oil in that country Nyasaland was granted independence in 1964 and was ruled by the dictator Hastings Banda for years he was still there as President when I left the country after six years in 1975. Malawi is a democratic country these days and so why should ANY nationals of that country demand to stay in the UK is beyond me. The same applies to many other ex colonial countries. When I lived and worked in Malawi I had to obtain a proper work permit before I was allowed to enter the country. I left after my my second three year contract despite the fact that after that period of time I could've legally stayed in the country with permanent residence. Stay with the UK rules and you will not end up in places such as Yarls Wood. If you choose to jump the queue then you get what you deserve. Perhaps you are confusing the oil from Tung trees which is used in paint manufacture, there was a small plantation in Nyasaland (Malawi)and like with most endeavours such as tea growing it was started by colonials the local folk had nothing to do with it. But it did provide paid work. It was Hastings banda that cashed in on tobacco growing though he hardly did it for the people rather it was to feather his personal nest. I know because I was there, were you?
Iraq war inquiry - lessons to be learnt 8:58pm on 16 Jun 2009 The first and last casualty of this war is the truth. It cannot be let out because too many are culpable to war crimes. In the same way as the much lauded Abu Ghraib tortures are to be kept out of the scrutiny of the people.

Are the leaders of this senseless war to be tried for war crimes? Of course not and they have the neck to bang on about the likes of Mladic the butcher of Serbia running free. What does intrigue me is that senior people in the BBC such as Greg Dyke got hoofed out at the behest of the Blair spin merchant Campbell. When they reported that the Iraq dossier was sexed up. Later it was found to be true so did the BBC apologise to the likes of Dyke are they still crawling around that loud mouthed nut case Campbell. C'mon you've seen it all Hutton another cover up. All Brown is doing is trying to deflect the media from asking, nay demanding the real answers. Brown will go eventually, he'll not lose any sleep and he may just do a Blair and leave the house of ill repute for good. He'll not have the guts to hang on the back benches. City job perhaps lots of perks. I'm sure his mate Blair will fill him in on the ways to make some extra cash.
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 12:46pm on 28 May 2009 Barca are exceptional wasn't it them that gave Celtic a lesson in football? Man U have the money but that isn't all. You need real spirit, to play as a team, not as individuals. Above all you need the will to win and not to give up just as Barca fought against Chelsea. It was a pleasure to watch them and the anguish of those highly paid Man U players said it all. Ronaldo may be pretty to watch but he's also likes acting so maybe he should try another career. Congrats and thanks to Barca for giving so much pleasure they deserve the trophy.
Map of the Week: North African migrants invade UK 6:09pm on 27 May 2009 Yes it's a wonder of nature that causes such migration. In Eastern Europe the huge migration of storks too is a sight to behold. Returning to their same nests and producing young oblivious of the roar of traffic below them. Tens of thousands do this year after year, wonderful indeed.
More institutional decay 6:01pm on 27 May 2009 The Catholic church appears to have an extremely poor record in terms of sexual abuse of children. Just look at the huge compensations that were paid in the USA for this abuse. Ireland is beginning to break the mold of church deference it's a hard one to crack. I live in a Catholic dominated country where priests are known to preach that homosexuality is a disease. Also it's well known that the prieata enjoy a healthy sexual lifestyle. Many are extremely rich having no dioubt received 'donations' from families in death which appears to end up in the priests hands rather than the church. There is I am sure an underlying paedophile element and certainly sexual abuse but the lid is kept firmly in place aided by ignorant people who believe unquestionably.
We need windows as well as doors 5:22pm on 27 May 2009 Payment based on distance ia not the answer. IF the MP has to attend parliement the simplist way is to have suitable living quarters owned and run by the government. A central sectretarial office and a daily food allowance. NO employment of relatives and rail travel costs covered by travel warrants. The sort of warrant a soldier uses for travel would do nicely. Certainly a reduction in the number of MPs and a maximum four years term and no returns. A complete cull of the Lords down to a 100 elected members.

I think that journalists too have a reputation of 'enjoying' their expense account jollys. So small wonder they didn't want to question the MPs maybe a bit too close to home eh!
