The heat, the Ashes, the petrol and sweat 9:59pm on 23 Aug 2009 The best bit of the weekend, almost, was the superb way you managed to trap Christian Horner over Red Bull possibly using KERS. Brilliant!

You may find him less willing to be interviewed in future - but that was priceless!
An earpiece of the action 10:14am on 14 Jul 2009 Jake - have you ever thought about moving to a more laid-back and relaxing job? Being a Formula 1 driver should fit the bill nicely!

How the bl***y hell do you handle that? Sure - we all know that something's going on in your ear - but I was under the impression that was more when you weren't talking. You (and other such presenters) must have the weirdest brains to be able to unfalteringly think about what you are saying and say it with authority, whislt at the same time listening to all that babble and analysing it so that the talking part can update it's thought train.

Another thing that always amazes me is how cleverly the end of program highlights have been selected and edited in so little time. I get the impression there are quite a few un-sung heros behind making one of the best TV programs our TV license provides. Value for money!

For a long time I've thought how I'd love to just be a fly on the wall in the gallery of such a program - now I know I would love so love to be able to follow such a program's production close up. Perhaps I've missed my correct career path - but in the background, my brain couldn't do your job!

I'm in awe of the whole production.
Messing about on the river 3:16pm on 08 Jul 2009 We can blame the French for this "lull" - the GP at Magny Cours was originally scheduled for the weekend after the British GP. Funnily, I must have entered all the dates from the provisional calendar onto my mobile phone, because that Saturday my phone reminded me that a non-existent race was about to take place. Talk about having salt rubbed into sore wounds!

Bigger "lull" coming up between the Hungarian (July 26) and Valencia (Aug 23) to brace ourselves for.

Anybody who can take on what must have been a pretty daunting prospect of presenting F1 on its return to the Beeb, and then proceed to carry it off with such aplomb over the first 7 races, deserves something as awesome as these driving experiences.

Good on you!

But, if had all gone wrong . . . who would have brought us our F1!? :)

Re spectator number . . . .
It seems totally weird that a circuit like Istanbul (with its reported 30,000 attendance) is preferred by "them powers that be" over the likes of Canada and Silverstone.
This year Silverstone is pretty much sold out. OK, the tickets may have been snapped up partly because it's the "last Silvetstone GP", or, of course, in anticipation of cheering on Lewis to another fantastic Silverstone win. The Lewis fans will at least be able to make use of their Union Flags and wave them for Jenson AND Lewis!
All we need is LH and/or JB to be up there exciting us and we could fill the stands at BOTH Silverstone and Donnington!

It's all up in the air 9:20pm on 14 Apr 2009 A Boeing Airbus 600? Hmmmm - at least you're not being paid to know about such things - so, excused. In aviation terms this equates to a Ferrari MP4-24! :)
Filling for Britain at storm time 10:41pm on 08 Apr 2009 I never knew how that Steve guy used to be so slick, even after years of presenting F1! How you've managed to be right up there in just two GPs is quite astonishing.

But these haven't been what one could call "normal" GPs, either - it's been pretty gruelling just trying to keep up at a non-critical pace sat on the sofa! So - having travel, jet-lag, time slots, pit-lane crowds, the unfamiliarity of the circuits for you and some of the team, the whole GP routine and everything else to manage AND keep on top of the names of teams, divers, managers, facts figures, breaking news, demotions, promotions, disqualifications, accusations, revelations, etc. - well, I'm exhausted just typing that!

The last two GPs, I'm not sure if that Steve chap would have maintained his usual slick, cool, professional persona - but you did!

Well done to the whole Beeb team - but you're the one that has to untie tour tongue and your thoughts before the director cuts back to you and you have to open your mouth!

So ..... Bravo!
