I am, however, still a little dissapointed with all the Owen bashing that's going on at the moment. Give the guy a break for God's sake! He had a terrible injury during the World Cup in 2006 after just signing for Newcastle. When he recovered from that he was scoring goals again. But as is often the way after a long lay off along came another injury and the ensuing struggle for fitness and list of injuries since.

Maybe, just maybe, Owens subsequent injuries and lack of form have been more down to the trainig regime at Newcastle (just a thought), bringing him back too early after only one or two reserve league games and not being fully match fit. As expectations of him have obvioulsy been very high becasue of his reputation, he has quite plainly been under pressure from fans and club management to perform straight away. He has obviously wanted to do well for his team and has tried too hard to deliver knowing he isn't as sharp as he once was and along comes another injury to knock the confidence. It has been a viscious circle for him and culminated in everyone appearing to get at him for not single-handedly keeping Newcastle in the Prem.

It's a well known fact that players rarely perform well in their first few games after a long lay-off and need time to get into the groove again. As some people have said, once he's fit and has that sharpness and the service every striker requires(after all he can't do it all himself as football is a team game) he will score goals and his class will shine through again to prove all the doubters and those who get on a particular bandwagon, completely wrong.

Good luck, Micheal, where every you decide to play next season and don't listen to the drivel that is been spoken and written about you begin past it and useless. This can only make you stronger!
Barry gets England talking 11:18pm on 04 Jun 2009 Good luck to Barry. He'll need it at City who have not achieved their potential for several years. I feel that, once again, City will finish outside of the European spots come the end of next season and not win anything. I wonder how stupid Barry will feel then. I would, however, stop short of saying that they will do a Newcastle as the won't go down.

I digress! Lets hope England win. I don't really care if we play badly as long as we win.

Would love to go to Kazakhstan as I've heard lots of good things about it and the people. I thinks it's great that they are welcoming the team and our media to give them more exposure to the world.

You may be able to say you are a good team domestically, but great teams of any era then go on to dominate in European competition, which sadly for you lot, isn't the case. United certainly don't have the credentials to call themselves a great side by any stretch of the imagination

It may just be me but I sure the idea of the Champions League is to see who is the best club side in Europe in both a league format (although small) and knockout format.

You're right about Fergies so called fledgelings.

However, Fergies youngsters of the mid-to-late-ninties (Giggs, Scholes, Butt, Neville, Neville and Beckham and possibly others I'm not aware of) were all poached from Man City and Torquay respectively for which United were fined a paltry £50,000.

Just another expamle of Fergies underhand dealings and tactics.
Brilliant Barcelona outclass Man Utd 12:55pm on 28 May 2009 There's been a bit of talk on here about Ronaldo not being at United next season and speculation in the press about him moving to Real Madrid.

I had to laugh last night when after Ronaldo was booked after fouling Puyol, Xavi followed him up the pitch getting in his ear. I wonder what he was saying. Maybe that he should want to join Barcelona and perhaps win more trophies as is sure to happen that if he was to go to Madrid.

I think the prima donna will joing the other prima donna's at Madrid sooner rather than later and not win a thing. That would be poetic, don't you think?
