In the 30 odd years i can remember watching spanish football.. he has been the best player i've seen in that league ( ahead of zidane, maradona, messi-so far, etc)

Surely you must find a place for m laudrup in that team !

The "Moors" were basically north african arabised berbers...Zinedine Zidane being a good example of an algerian arabised berber... not black sub-saharans.
20 years ago even in major inland cities such as madrid you just didnt see many non-white people at all.. Only on the med coast did you regularly see black africans.. usually on market stalls trading goods from africa..

you may not have noticed but spain won the last major championship they played in... and showed testicular fortitude, as you put it.

Spain's economic growth began with the return of democracy.

Spanish footballing commentators never expect spain to win major tournaments, and most spaniards dont either. So your comment about "big mouth" is wrong.

The british press are lauding spain, because they are at the moment one of the best sides in world football, won euro 2008, and are rightfully amongst the favs for the wc... so what ??
