More improvements to the homepage 09:36am on 15 May 2009 The new page is better, but the still-dominant picture needs reducing further. It's still pretty awful. Most people's faces are not very attractive close-up, even attractive personalities like Clement Freud are often much better heard rather than seen. If you must use a picture, let it not be of people. Your pictures are something most of us would rather not see.
Your feedback on the redesign 8:22pm on 06 May 2009 Reactively moderated means "the team" censor what is said (look at comment no. 28 by bowbrick), but over time skins have become thicker as the team have realised that the users are far less pleased with the results of their work, than the team are themselves. In effect, if you want some BASIC CHANGE of how the "redesign" works or want rid of the large and generally awful face pictures on the site you are ignored. Bowbrick has admitted that he finds the pictures "a joy" (comment no.243). This is so far from what the majority of users think, that it looks as though objectors will get nowhere. L. Aspin, who seems to have the decisive vote, has been persuaded that we are just having a "subjective reaction" and that it is perfectly O.K. to go on ignoring us. His reaction is not subjective at all, of course.

Your feedback on the redesign 08:42am on 20 Apr 2009 I think the designers of the radio 4 site are worlds away from the majority of those who use it.

The designers seem very interested in or oriented towards the people behind the programmes, and themselves as presenters of the site.

Hence, the pictures and chat of themselves and authors, writers, actors etc. and the endless, irritating (but ,I suppose , easily obtained) pictures of said people.

The majority of radio4 listeners (i.e. customers or consumers) are interested chiefly in the content of programmes and easy access to that content.

The large pictures on the homepage are simply an irritating, annoying irrelevance to them. Make the pictures smaller and related to content.

Your feedback on the redesign 11:11pm on 17 Apr 2009 As I get used to the site I'm liking it better since you've responded to our pleas in many ways. I've got used to looking above and below the giant picture on the homepage.

For the first time, today, I found the picture interesting, (suffragettes) and it's helpful that it's clickable.

I still hate it when the picture is of a face. Even Clement Freud, who is a sad loss, is not someone I want to see staring at me as I look at the page.

It's good to feel positive about the way you're developing the site. Thank you.

Clement Freud 8:25pm on 16 Apr 2009 A splendid man, and full of common sense as well as wit and fast thinking.

Millions enjoyed hearing his voice in whatever guise. You knew that whatever was coming up would be irreverent but very much to the point. His recipes were a delight.

Your feedback on the redesign 6:08pm on 15 Apr 2009 5 weeks on and I still find the very large pictures horrible and a waste of useful space.

Still nothing is being done about this and still very vapid comments appear, indicating that because the reaction shown is not 100per cent negative Mr Aspin clearly feels justified in hanging on to them.

The majority are not in favour. Admit it.

Make any pictures smaller, relevant, and useful clicking points.

Even on the homepage.

I saw today that you've opened another one - I think that is what "Vital Signs" means to be.

It could be something less focused than that, and I truly don't understand quite what your introduction is saying. You use English in a way I haven't encountered before. Can you explain, please?

The blog's vital signs 4:30pm on 15 Apr 2009 How do you measure success of a blog?

Depends what the aim was, and if all contributors understood that aim.

I don't understand the point of "vital signs" . Nor the aims of its originator. "Track a list of key numbers and visualise them". What does this mean please?

What is a dynamically-updated report, and how can it be pretty?

Please explain what the point of this exercise is, in relation to Radio 4's continued existence. In the way you've introduced this , S. Bowbrick, it sounds quite self-indulgent.
