What does Sarkozy's walkout threat signal? 3:02pm on 31 Mar 2009 It is all very well saying to spend our way out of recession, but I agree with the guy Liam Halligan on last night's panel - inflation is the next looming crisis on the agenda, contrary to what politicians in this weeks G20 summit would have us believe.

Before you fired a round of verbal abuse at a complete stranger on this blog, nobody even noticed that Pesto had “speech impediment“. So, on behalf of RP - well saved!

On a separate note, if your alias does suggest the profession you are working in, it is no wonder why a crisis that originated in the banking sector is wreaking irrevocable damage on the economy, that make take decades to fix. Apparently the supposed elites working in banks(like yourself) have the personality of a child.

I have no problem with NHS workers, police officers and teachers getting pay rises. They have a difficult job to do and have been grossly underpaid for years. What I don’t understand is why it should be the same with city councilors and government officers, who are frankly draining economic resources and not having much to show for it. What are the employment ministers doing to help ordinary people get work? Just a few more Job 'No Help' Centers and headline-grabbing initiatives that never got around to be enforced. No reward for failure – talk about hypocrisy!
Hello from bankrupt Kiev, 4x4 capital of Europe 09:12am on 21 Mar 2009 Paul, can you share more insights into how these Eastern European countries created 10% economic growth per annum during the boom years? Presumably they have stocked up some foreign reserves during the process? If so, why not use the money to stop their economy from running to bankruptcy now?

Countries that have large trade balance surpluses with United States. Now the Americans are repaying their loans by printing money, the biggest losers are the Chinese, Japanese and central banks across south-east Asia. This will no doubt lead to a wave of competitive devaluing of world wide currencies. You know, in my widest dream, I actually wonder whether the housing market will make a come back soon, since QE has made money almost equivalent to garbage.
