Cobra Starship - 'Good Girls Go Bad' 7:26pm on 16 Oct 2009 Hate to go off topic slightly, but I'd just like to object to your calling Say Anything indistinctive. I'm a tad biased as they're one of my all time favourite bands and I think Max Bemis is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard, not to mention that one of their songs has very sentimental value for me, but I honestly think they're one of the most under-rated bands around and hopefully, now Max is in good health they can set about making their mark in the music industry.
Lady GaGa - 'Lovegame' 4:26pm on 17 Sep 2009 First off just want to say I LOVE Gaga. I can't explain why as I feel I should loathe everything about her. Instead I find her fascinating and can't wait for more material. Went to her Brixton gig recently which was absolutely brilliant. one of the best gigs i've been to in quite a while.
What I think is interesting is the way Lady Gaga's choice of attire has changed that of many of the other leading ladies in pop. If you look at Beyonce, Katy Perry, Ciara, Florence and the Machine and Shingai from the Noisettes to name but a few, you'll see they too all seem to forget their trousers on a regular basis. I know people did it before Gaga and she didn't invent the leotard, however there's no denying she's created THE look of 2009.
Also, I think it's too easy to dismiss her as a talentless tart. I will admit to often having quite feminist tendencies (to the despair of my boyfriend) and the one of the reasons I'm sometimes a little disheartened by pop music is the way women are represented. It often seems that it's either the men singing about how the women all want them, or the women singing about how they want the men. Shows who writes a lot of the music. But with Gaga, as she's supposedly completely in control of everything she produces, her clothing almost has a feeling of empowerment to it. It's like he's not TRYING to be sexy and please men, she's dressing the way she wants to, and if that so happens to be revealing then so what?? She's not simply a puppet. Rihanna is another who is slowly breaking the mould and going against what is generally regarded as sexy and instead dressing how she feels comfortable. I was never a Rihanna fan but towards the end of the Good Girl Gone Bad releases I found myself warming to her.

Enter Shikari - 'No Sleep Tonight' 00:49am on 16 Aug 2009 Firstly, it's interesting that Enter Shikari's fanbase is large enough for them even to appear on a chart-based blog, since they are very alternative sounding. I'm a big fan and have seen them live on a couple of occasions so I'm chuffed for them.

Secondly, in response to Spirit Warrior's comment, I think you're being a little patronising and unfair. It is one thing if a band or style of music doesn't appeal to you personally, and it is quite obvious that Enter Shikari have a sound that won't be to everybody's tastes. However, to imply that the album isn't well crafted, and has, essentially, just been carelessly thrown together bar a couple of tracks, is quite narrow-minded and insulting to the band. It is something they have clearly worked very hard on, and even if you can't grasp the melodies, there is no denying he lyrics are quite outstanding.

MPHO - 'Box 'n' Locks' 00:08am on 15 Jul 2009 That's what happens to me whenever Melanie Fiona's Give It To Me Right comes on the radio; I think it's Time Of The Season, and then get very disappointed when I realise it isn't. Making me dislike the song outright, just for not being Time Of The Season.
Michael Jackson - King Of Pop 3:56pm on 27 Jun 2009 I'm not a big fan of michael jackon's music (say about my music taste what you will - all music is subjective) and these past couple of days have only served to make his songs even less appealing to me as you cannot escape them on the radio.
However, I do understand that so much of today's music stems from his, and so in that respect, he has done enormous amounts for popular culture, in much the same way as the beatles.
I am also saddened for his family and friends, as it is always a horriffic experience to lose somebody you love.
Yet I find myself unable to feel much sympathy towards the man himself. I know he clearly had issues, but to my mind that is not an excuse for the crimes he allegedly committed towards young children. I can't bring my self to empathise with somebody who themselves clearly had little empathy for others.
It is a shame his personal life had to tarnish his outstanding career.
Pixie Lott - 'Mama Do' 3:48pm on 04 Jun 2009 I think a better question would be "What would my mama do, if she knew her 17 year old daughter was sexualising herself in such an obvious and slightly cheap way."
Were I her mother, I'd be more worried about that, than her having a boyfriend.

However, while I am disappointed at the route they've taken for the video (I think a cooler, more Duffy style affair would have been better) the song itself is fairly good, and Pixie does indeed have one heck of a voice. Everybody should youtube her live, acoustic cover version of Use Somebody. This song really doesn't do her vocal prowess justice.

Gosh this is so tricky!! Those last 5 aren't my all time top favourites, rather the songs I'm currently infatuated with. I have a whole other list of songs that I will always love, but that's a litle too long.
