A hung parliament and the City 4:53pm on 03 Dec 2009 Why this panic over a hung parliament ? Germany existed for a full term with the two main parties in coalition ! This was the equivalent of Labour and Conservatives in a coalition goverment. They survived.
Brown wants UK controls 9:34pm on 01 Jul 2009 We should not lose sight of the fact the whole banking crisis was mainly a result of the ridiculous financial exploits of the US and UK financial sector with its hedge funds and other outrageous financial exploits with excessive borrowing.The Germans were warning some time ago about the dangers of these activities and it is a bit rich of our goverment to lecture other European countries about the superiority of the UK regulatory system!

Why do we think that Jag/LandRover will go on to build vehicles to compete with companies like VW , Mini, Toyota and even Opel who all have developments in hand to produce electric and other fuel greener cars.As for Land Rover. from what I have seen the 4wheel drives vehicles in Africa and other developing areas which were Land Rovers are now nearly all Toyotas and Nissans!
Sorry as I am to see the demise of yet more iconic British brands and all the jobs that go with them I am afraid the they are destined to go the way of Rover !
An offer Jag can refuse 9:06pm on 06 May 2009 It seems to me that we are looking at the wrong issues here.With the breakup of GM europe and the potential of a takeover of all the opel/vauxhall plants (who can produce small "greener cars ")we should be trying to ensure the GM plants in Britain are not sacrificed in any "restructuring " The German goverment is talking to all potential buyers of GM europe to ensure the German plants remain open but it appears that the UK goverment is playing no part in these talks.If we are honest the days of gas guzzling Jags and Land Rovers must be limited.
Saying sorry 10:24pm on 13 Mar 2009 What I fail to understand is that in spite of all this saying sorry the only anger generated is in blogs like this one!
I like the Icelandic approach , constant peaceful demonstrations outside parliament until the whole goverment resigns , whose first action is then to sack all the central bank and regulators and nationalise the banks.
I understand that their currency has now stopped falling and although the country faces a difficult year they are no longer in the news as the new goverment is getting a grip on the situation with the support of the population.
