My Japanese Grand Prix predictions 00:16am on 03 Oct 2009 This blog seems to be based more on what various drivers i.e. Vettel and Rubens, need to do rather than any serious assessment of what might happen.
I cannot see Webber on the podium somehow and I think the mere fact that Button knows he doesn't have to win this race could be a big factor in his performance and see him near or at the front. Don't forget Button is no slouch in the wet either.
For the rest, if he doesn't crash out Hamilton will be there somewhere, and although I hope not, I fear the pressure to stay in touch with Button could be Ruben's undoing. As for Kimi, who knows. He might do anything or nothing. depends on whether he's seriously looking for another drive or ready to quit.
Alonso to Ferrari could herald golden age 4:35pm on 01 Oct 2009 The big if in this article is right at the beginning, where Benson says if the two giants can get back to the front. Ferrari are do for a spell in the wilderness and all the signs have shown this year that it could happen. Not to sure about MClaren. I think they could still be up there next year.
I'd just like also to question the comparisions, which both carry the assumptions that Alonso is and Hakkinen was great champions. I might remind Andrew that both Hakkinen with his 2 titles and Alonso with his had an awful lot of good luck riding with them, and Hakkinen had some downright manipulation going on with his wins--Coulthard being ordered to give him the win in the first race and the mysterious sudden snails pace that Coulthard adopted during one very wet race, which caused Michael, who was winning by a country mile to crash into him as he came round to lap Coulthard--and, I think I'm correct here, didn't Michael break his leg in Montreal and didn't drive for the rest of the season when Hakkinen won his 2nd title.

This is exactly what Jack Collison of West Ham did several weeks ago, only it was his father, who was killed in a motor cycle accident, so Collison had no warning. Yet Collison played without being pressured either. The only difference being, his story didn't seem to warrant a news story, so it was left to WH supporters to mark his courage and how he was a credit to the sport
Del Potro sets seal on memorable US Open 4:13pm on 15 Sep 2009 When the hysteria dies down and everyone takes a look at what happened here, two sets of figures tell the story. One 'Federer first serve % 45, Del Poro 1st. serve % 75. Federer unforced errors, over 60.
As is constantly said about Murray, you can't win a major tournament serving at below 50%, and, as showed here, not even Federer can't do it (can anyone remember the Fed serving below 60%. Look at his serve % when he beat Murray last year). The end result was, this was a match that was lost rather than won.
However, it does raise one very interesting question. Is Federer finding it harder and harder, mentally, to play at the level needed to win the big matches, especially now, having climbed the one hurdle, this year,that has stood in his way until now?. Is it a case of, having done it all, the desire is fading somewhat. After all, (as Borg put it when he retired,). What else does he have to prove?.

And why do you say, Phil this gives time for Capello to sort out his goalkeeping. That has solved itself since Capello was forced to use Green, unless, that is, Capello's obvious stubborn streak, that doesn't let him admit to being wrong (A.K.A> Heskey in place of Defoe, who can score and Carlton Cole who can do the same job as Heskey, only better and does actually score here and there) takes over and he spits in Greeno's eye yet again.
One last point. Did anyone see Italy's second goal last night in their qualifier. It should give everyone food for thought on what England really face next year.
Beleaguered Button needs to get back on track 6:55pm on 30 Aug 2009 Fact is, if Button does take a look at where his is, it should take the pressure off because what he knows now is, all he has to do for the remaining races is make sure he drops no more than 3 points a race to Barrichello.
Somewhere this season, it had to go wrong for Button. That was inevitable. Even Michael at his best had bad races where he didn't finish.
It is this sheer unpredictabilty of motor racing that makes it so fascinating.
As for this luck theory, if anyone is going to use that on Button, how about the other side of the coin. "Aren't Vettel and Barrichello lucky Button has had some bad races, otherwise he would be out of sight by now and their challenge would be over".
Relishing Schumacher's return 3:01pm on 30 Jul 2009 Well done Andrew for stating the obvious, albeit a day late. Many posters including myself said this yesterday, although I do think some of the comments on here are just as silly, like suggesting Ferrari somehow engineered this.
Anyway, the whole point is, this can do nothing but good for F1, in difficult financial times.

Button was much faster that Barrichello at that moment and it made sense to get Ruebens on better tyres and let Button capitilise on his extra speed. Don't forget they had Alonso to worry about, and couldn't afford, as the finish showed, to give him any more chance to catch up.
Tevez a sound deal for Man City 00:15am on 15 Jul 2009 I guess Mr. McNulty, how one looks at what is going on at City, depends on whether one, as you seem to, sees football and success via the size of a cheque book.
I certainly wouldn't be a City fan, trying to enjoy such hollow success, without any feeling of acheivement and effort.
I see, as like cheating at sport. You might hoist the trophy, but you know, deep inside, you really haven't achieved anything.
Adopted Mason highlights question of allegiance 8:03pm on 23 Jun 2009 God, half the countries in the world would be in trouble if they banned it. Canada is a country of immigrants, so they'd be virtually wiped out in sports.
Might be able to argue the ins and outs, but in reality, you coudn't change it
